Challenge 5 at Hobbycutz

Good morning! I'm fresh back from my holiday just in time for the new challenge at Hobbycutz. This week our challenge is Mothers Day (USA) and we would like to see your projects made with your Mum or a special lady in mind. We are sponsored this week by Floppy Latte Designs, who generously gave us some lovely digis to work with. Without further ado this is my project
I chose to decorate a Hobbycutz box. These little wooden boxes are a lovely size, and great to work with. I painted mine with a couple of layers of gesso, then used distress inks to give the sides some colour. The lid of the box is covered with DPs in a chequer-board design.  The Floppy Latte 'Black-eyed Susan' is printed out in various sizes, coloured with copics, cut out and stuck on. The lovely Hobbycutz heart is lightly coloured using a chalk inkpad and small pearl beads are glued around the edge.

Inside the box is a mini album, made from chipboard and decorated to match the box. The wooden letters are again from Hobbycutz.
I really enjoyed making this, and as Mothers Day has already been celebrated in the UK , I'm giving it to my lovely Mum for her birthday.
Thanks for visiting. Please hop over to the Challenge Blog, check out the lovely projects that my talented teamies have made. Hopefully, you'll be tempted to join in, there's even an extra chance to win a  prize if you use a Hobbycutz product.
Have a lovely Sunday!

A bit dotty!

Good morning! if you're reading this my scheduled post was a success! Yay! I'm on holiday this week in deepest darkest Dorset ( well I hope it's sunny delightful Dorset!). We have rented a cottage for the week as Mathilda is accompanying us! Her first holiday! I'm really hoping she doesn't eat the cottage! I'm so looking forward to taking her for a run on the beach, another first for her! Anyway, there is no internet connection so no blogging from me this week.
This is my DT card for Sweet Stampin' this week. The challenge is " buttons and bows with polka dots" - how fabulous! My little Gorjuss Girl is proudly sporting a paper pieced dress, the papers were free with a magazine and so were the buttons. Corner bow is Memory Box. Ribbons from stash. Please pop by the challenge blog to enjoy what the rest of the DT have created.
I really enjoyed making this card! Thanks so much for looking! Have a great week! See you when I get home.

Seeing stars!

Welcome to a new week and a new challenge at  Songbird Challenges. The song title this fortnight is 'Stars' and we would love you to join us with your starry cards! We are sponsored this week by Meljens Designs, so you could win a lovely prize!
We were given some lovely Meljens images to play with and I chose to use 'Cheer girl'! She's so happy and full of life and energy that I felt she needed a really bold, bright setting! (You may wish to reach for your sunglasses.....).The background is made up of scraps of bright paper pieced together behind the diecut star. Added swirly star diecuts and a few scattered stars. Image is coloured with copics, cut out and adhered with sticky pads to give the card some depth.
Thanks so much for looking, please pop over to the challenge blog and see what the rest of the DT have made and we would love it if you're inspired to a make starry card and join us!
Have a super week!

Challenge #4 at Hobbycutz

Good morning! I hope you're all enjoying the weekend. I'm making the most of it as tomorrow I will be back to looking after my 2 little grandaughters while Mum is at work! I'm so looking forward to having them, but I'm definitely not looking forward to getting up at death o'clock in order to get to their house and deliver them to school on time! Ah, well it's worth it!
Anyway, back to the reason for this post, yes it's time for the new challenge at Hobbycutz ! This time we are lucky enough to be sponsored by the amazing
kennyk, who are offering a prize of 3 digis
and

the lovely Natali from  Iva Nova Chest
who is giving this beautiful prize

and if this isn't enough to tempt you there are also  £7.50 vouchers from Hobbycutz for 2 lucky random winners and a £5 voucher for 1 winner using a Hobbycutz product! Phew!
Oh, nearly forgot to show you my card!

Our Challenge this week is 'Monochrome'
The fabulous image is Lady Raven by Kennyk and the amazing swirls are lasercuts from Hobbycutz, the top one is painted with distress ink and a tiny bit of distress stickles added, the other one (she is sitting on!) is left natural. Papers are from my stash, I had a lot of fun, stamping, distressing and embossing!
Thanks so much for looking, please take the time to pop over to  Hobbycutz Challenges and see the beautiful projects my very talented teamies have created!

The Birds!

Good evening (very late evening!) Just a quick post with my entry for this weeks LIM challenge. This week it is One Layer - Film. I'm really busy at the moment but I just couldn't resist this one! My film,if you haven't already guessed!, is The Birds, a classic horror directed by Alfred Hitchcock. I watched it again last week on some obscure channel, still terrifying!
The stamps I used are Paper Artsy. The border is hand doodled.
Thanks for calling by!

A little bit grumpy!

A little bit grumpy is what this sweet image is called. It describes how I feel today too! After a day of sunshine, we're back to cold and wet! Also I'm anxious about my poor Mathilda who has had to have a small op. to correct a slight problem with her eyelids! Waiting to hear from the vet now!
Ok , back to the card,  the image is one of three that I was lucky enough to win from thepapershelter (thanks very much!!), coloured with copics and a little dash of stickles on her wings. I used an older sketch from graphicatsketchs, there are some amazing sketches on this blog, so if you're stuck for inspiration...., papers from my stash and a few pearls.
Have just heard from vet, Mathilda is fine and we can collect her later today! Phew!
Thanks for calling by

Lime and black at LIM

Hi! just a quick post from me to share a card I made for this weeks Less is More challenge. I used the negative part of the black card after punching the flower and die cutting the 'stem' and oval aperture for the sentiment. I backed the flower part with a piece of paper which I 'zentangled' some time ago. (So therapeutic! I probably haven't done it properly, I just doodled, but I enjoyed it!!).
Rather blurred close up of the zentangled background!
I stamped the sentiment on a piece of lime green card, then stuck the black piece on top. Added a piece of ribbon and a button and that's it!
Thanks for taking the time to look.

Wee Suzi

Good morning! Please could someone tell me when we are going to get some spring weather!!?? I want sunshine! I want warm! I want to see the spring flowers raising their little faces towards the sun, not shuddering dejectedly in the wind! I don't want any more snow, sleet, ice or nasty icy winds! OK now I've finished moaning and whining, I'll tell you about this weeks challenge at Sweet Stampin'! This week it's another easy one -Scallops. For my DT card I decided to make an easel card for a change, haven't made one of these for a while! The cute stamp is Wee Suzi, by Wee Stamps . I was lucky enough to win  some amazing blogcandy from the  lovely, talented (and very generous!) Gail, (Lacey Lassy) you can check out her blog here, and this stamp was a very small part of it! Wee Suzi is coloured with cpoics and her dress is paper pieced to match the frame. I added some flowers and a bow to the base of the card along with a lovely die cut flourish (die also courtesy of Gail, told you she was generous!).
The rest of the DT have once again made some amazing cards for ypur delectation and delight!, so pop over to Sweet Stampin' now, I'd hate you to miss anything! There are prizes to be won, too, this week our sponsors are Heather Ellis and  The Ribbongirl .
Well, that's all from me for now, thanks so much for looking and I hope you have a lovely weekend (...and that it soon gets warmer for those of us that live in the UK!...)

Five colours in her hair

Good morning! It's Monday -and  time for the new challenge at Songbirds . This week the song title is  'Five colours in her hair' and we are sponsored by the fabulous Saturated Canary! We were allowed to choose an image ( yay!), you just don't want to know how long I spent changing my mind!!! Oh, to be decisive! Eventually I opted for this beauty! She is so lovely to colour! I kept her dress and the background very plain and went to town on her hair. The papers are from a pad I've had for ages - Mariposa by   DCWV - they are so beautiful I just like to drool over them- well, not literally-that would make them disgustingly soggy, but I'm sure you know what I mean! Added various diecuts and some flowers. Easy, huh? So come on over to  the Songbirds challenge blog       and join us! What we would like to see is funky coloured hair! How fun is that?!! So get out your copics/promarkers/distress inks/ pencils/watercolours or whatever your prefered colouring medium and join the fun! You know you want to!
