Christmas sparkle!

Good morning, it's another Christmas make from me, this time for our new challenge at Fab 'n' Funky. This challenge will run for 2 weeks and is hosted by our lovely Neva. The theme, you've guessed it!, is 'Christmas' (no surprise there then!)

I used a gorgeous stamp from Kraftin Kimmie coloured with copics, loads of glitter added to her garland and the pine cones. The sentiment stamp is part of the same set. I kept the design very simple, layering the die cut frame onto glitter card.

Baby it's cold out...Day 4

Good morning, day 4 of our Christmas in July challenges at Catch the Bug and we have a bingo theme for you. My card features a cute snowman and sentiment from the new release set.

I used the top line of the chart...texture/die cut/sparkle.

I coloured the snowman with copics, then lavishly added Nuvo Glitter drops to his hat, it's very sparkly IRL! He's layered onto the glittery die cut snowflake and a white cardstock square which is embossed with a 'falling snow' EF, can't remember the make!

Baby it's cold out Day 3

Good morning, it's Day 3 of our Christmas in July celebrations at Catch the Bug. For today's challenge I made a simple gift card wallet featuring Snowflake Reindeer silhouette. 

This simple wallet is held closed with a band of embossed silver card. I adhered a silver sparkly ribbon to the band and topped it with the beautiful reindeer which I had printed onto the same silver cardstock and fussy cut. I added a few small gems to the snowflakes for a bit of festive sparkle.

Chin- chin!

Good morning, welcome to the weekend! My first card today is my DT make for this week's challenge at Sweet Stampin'. The theme is distressing/texture. I had fun playing with a brilliant set of stamps from Hobby Art, I LOVE this set! 

I stamped the main image twice, colouring one with copics. I cut the hat from the second image, shaped it with a ball tool and adhered on top of the first image using pinflair glue to add dimension, doesn't show too well in the photo but looks good IRL!. I stamped the moustache, glass and bottle a few times, coloured them and cut them out along with the 'chin chin' banner. The pocket watch is a die cut. The background dp is distressed and inked around the edges.

Party animal!

Good morning, it's my turn to host the challenge at Fab 'n' Funky this week , which means I get to choose the theme, this time it was an easy choice as we're lucky enough to be sponsored by the fabulous Dr Digi....I picked 'Make it funny'

I chose to use Happy Hour Horace I think he's brilliant , such a little ray of sunshine :), and I knew straight away what I was going to make...and believe me, that does not happen very often...my cards usually end up very different from the idea I had to start with! I kept the design very simple, using DP for the 'wallpaper' and table. Horace was coloured with copics, fussy cut (lovely and easy to cut out :) and popped up on foam pads. The sentiments were stamped and heat embossed. 

It would be great to have you play along at Fab 'n' Funky this week!

New release day at Catch the Bug

Good morning, Bugaboo's new release digi, Beach Ruby,  is available now in the online store. 

Here she is enjoying a hot sunny day at the seaside. I coloured her with copics and fussy cut. She didn't want to take her heels off, so couldn't walk on the beach so I gave her a pier to walk on....

July Challenge at Christmas at Sweet Stampin'

Hi, another quick make today! This one is for our July Challenge at Christmas at Sweet Stampin'.

I really struggled to get a decent photo of this card but this is the best I could do, it was so bright and sunny outside that it bleached the colour out, and indoors was too dark... the colours are much deeper IRL. I do love the little Tomte though, so I stamped him again inside.

Do you realise that there are only 5 more CaSS challenges to go before the big day!? 

Scary thought!

Let's see some gingham at Fab N Funky Challenges

Good morning, it's time for our new challenge at Fab 'n' Funky, this week our lovely Pat has picked a great theme for you...she would like to see some gingham on your project. I wasn't going to join in this week (as it's Wimbledon :) but I couldn't resist this lovely theme. I made a very quick card, the layout is simple and I'd already coloured the beautiful Hannah Lynn digi! I haven't added a sentiment as I like to keep some cards for 'any occasion'.

The Fab 'n' Funky girls have made some beautiful cards this week...gingham is obviously popular with us :), hope you like it too, we'd love to have you play along!

Once upon a time...

...several years ago, before I really started card-making I dabbled a bit with altered art, my particular interest was altered books. I acquired an old board book that had recessed pages and started to create a book of fairy tale pages. I painted the outside with several coats of gold acrylic and used a stamp to emboss swirls into the paint and  hand lettered the title...

...then life...work, grandchildren, family commitments etc got in the way and I forgot about it. When I saw the theme for this month's challenge at Aurora Wings it immediately sprang to mind and I dug it out again. I used some stamps and embossing powder to further decorate the outside.
After sanding and coating with gesso the inside looked like this....

I used distress inks and stencils to colour the background, stamping and heat embossing the roses around the frame .

I chose a beautiful AW image, Peace Rose, which I printed twice, flipping the image for the second copy. Colouring medium for this is copics. These were fussy cut and added to the page .

To create the title page I distressed a piece of white cardstock,  hand lettered the words and used the stamp and embossing powders again. 

So here it is, the first page in my 'new' book, illustrating the lovely fairy story about the two sisters, Snow White and Rose Red.

Totally girly at Crafty Calendar

Hi, back again with another DT make! This time it's for our new challenge at Crafty Calendar...we want to see your girly makes this month! We're lucky to be sponsored by the fabulous Pink Gem Designs, who generously allowed the DT to choose one of their sweet images each, so many lovely digis to choose from! I chose to use this sweet little poppet, Angelica, available here. Once again I coloured with copics! The DP is from a 6 inch pad called Secret Garden, not sure of the brand as the pad has fallen apart, the die cut flowers are MB, stamped tags LOTV. The pink daisy brad is v old...I bought a load of them back when Lakeland sold craft stuff.

It's Christmas in July...

...at Sweet Stampin' this week. Ok, I know we're having a heatwave here right now, but maybe making Christmas cards will make you feel a little cooler! 

I used a sweet  Wild Rose Studio  stamp, which I've coloured with copics random DP from stash and a few die cuts, My Christmas card stash is slowly growing!

To make my card, I coloured Dottie with copics...love that polka dot bikini...and fussy cut. Placed her on the embossed panel (free EF with a magazine) added my beach huts (free stamp from magazine), stamped sentiment and die cut whale tail (free...yet another magazine!). Buttons and Bows at Fab'n'Funky

Good morning, there's a brand new challenge starting today over at Fab'n ' Funky,We have a lovely  theme for you this week chosen by our very talented Judith, it's 'buttons and bows' and she wants to see both on your entries. It's a 'just for fun' week but the top 3 will get a beautiful badge for their blogs.

My card had to be a quick one this time...I'm glued to the TV over Wimbledon fortnight! 

I used a sweet image I coloured a while ago, the stamp is a very old clear stamp I unearthed whilst looking for something else, there's a whole set of these pretty girls but I found it difficult to get a good impression in the days before my trusty stamping platform...now it's easy peasy! 

I die cut a few circles and made a simple easel card...not forgetting the buttons and bows of course!
