A card and a hare...

Well. where did that week go! This summer is rushing by so fast, I'm glad I've been making the most of the lovely weather we've had. I hope the warm spell lasts a few more weeks as we're off on holiday in September - Devon is a lovely place to be, especially when the weather is good, so fingers crossed.

I used my Copics to colour up this cute Mo Manning image and made this quick card using old papers from my stash, it looked a bit plain so I added some stamping to the edges of the image panel and the grey background panel using Uniko border stamps, the  digital sentiment stamp is from Polkadoodles.

I've also been having a go at needle felting, inspired by Pinky's amazing projects. I discovered that my cousin knew how to felt and spent a lovely afternoon with her, my sister and a friend being shown how to wet felt and needlefelt. Since then I've bought some basics and tried the needle felting at home. My first attempt was a sheep. It looked a bit like an emaciated dachshund with mange and dodgy legs and went in the bin. My sister and my daughter are still laughing about it- rude!! Next I made a bear- well a head of a bear- it was far to big and I ran out of the yarn I was using...another resident for the bin. Yesterday I sat in the garden and made a hare...

Ok- his eyes are wonky and one ear is bigger than the other but I'm quite proud of him- he's a lot better than the sheep!
Thanks for visiting
Enjoy the weekend
Chris

  4. The image on the first is fabulous, sp perfect for the youngsters, the face suggests attitude for sure.

And your needle felting, what can I say, super Hare (who often have lopsided ears). I've looked at Pinky's makes in recent months and been tempted, but with my wonky fingers and eyes something tells me your "emaciated dachshund' would have looked like a work of art alongside anything I ended up with.

  10. I love her Chris, she is full of character and the moody coloured papers go perfectly with her! WOW well done you! I love your hare, he is absolutely gorgeous and he has such a sarcastic smile lol. Like he has been up to something that we don't know about!! You should have kept your very first one as they are a great gage for future projects. I hope this is the start of many more.

  11. First thing I have to ask is this, what summer Chris, ours has been dreadful, its either dull and muggy or raining, we are not having a good time and its very depressing considering the time limit now !!!!!!
Ok, your card is amazing, its gorgeous. I think its great your having ago at needle felting, I bought a few things because Pinky made me LOL but found I just couldn't take to it at all, so that all went off to a friend. Your little rabbit looks cute, well done Chris. xxx

  14. The card is so cute with that gorgeous Mo Manning image and great choice of colors for it. And I absolutely love how your hare turned out! You did a fantastic job. I've never tried needle felting so wouldn't know where to begin but would have loved to see your sheep, it sounds like it was a great first try even if it turned out to look nothing like a sheep! The hare looks perfect to me! Well done and thank you so much for sharing at Allsorts challenge too!

  19. Bless your heart for continuing to try a new craft!!! And you've succeeded! The hare has some personality. Even humans aren't perfectly symmetrical with our features or body parts...maybe you only dimple on 1 side of your mouth or a permanent tooth never came in or had to be pulled; or hair is thicker on 1 side of your head than the other, and so on. Thanks for sharing your felted rabbit with Critter Crazy #101!!! -- Becca

  20. Your card is such a sweet celebration of summer creativity—Mo Manning’s image is always a charmer, and your Copic coloring brings it to life so beautifully. I love how you elevated the design with those Uniko border stamps; they add just the right touch of texture and interest without overwhelming the softness of the scene. And your sentiment choice feels perfectly playful.

Your needle felting adventures had me smiling from start to finish! The sheep may have been a casualty, but your hare sounds like a triumph in character and charm. Wonky eyes and mismatched ears just make him more endearing—he’s got personality! It’s lovely to hear how crafting brought you together with family and sparked new inspiration.
