Good evening my lovely blogger friends, I'm sitting here bathed in a virtuous glow...not from the light of the moon but because today I cleaned the oven!!! My most hated task of all time! I even have a pyrolitic oven that does most of the work itself...but I still hate it! My oven is glowing too now...I'm not going to cook anything in it for as long as possible!
After all that effort (!) it was time to reward myself with a little play time... I dug out my art journal and made this page. The window frame is printed from google and cut out the sky and moon distress ink and masking...I smudged the lines with my finger (actually on purpose) and if you look hard you can see some tiny 'stars' made with a white gel pen. The background is black acrylic paint with a few scattered stars, some stamped some stencilled using a texture paste. The words are stencilled using a white gel pen. The pretty girl is a digistamp from The East Wind, available here, I coloured her with copics hoping to make her look as if she's standing in a moonbeam....a bit beyond my skills!
Anyway, I had fun....and I now have interesting blue hands!
Thanks for visiting, hope you've had a fun and productive day....just off to admire my sparkling oven!
Chris

Can you get moon burnt? Lovely image and wonderful colouring and a great stary background.
ReplyDeleteI know what you mean, I have discovered those kits where you leave your shelves over night, easy peasy and a miracle happens.

I was rather put out with my oven when I realised that "self-cleaning" wasn't to be taken literally, lol.
ReplyDeleteThis is such a gorgeous page, and I love the image! She's soooo pretty. And your night sky looks gorgeous.
My hands appear to be a mixture of red, green and black. Oddly, those are the colours I used the *least* today! lol. x
Absolutely beautiful Chris and I love the moonbeams cascading over her face and hair..you have done a great job.I cleaned my oven then bought a mini oven so I wouldn't use the big one..lol..

Beautiful art journaling, and I know that watching stars is nicer than cleaning the oven. Thanks for joining us at AJJ, Valerie
ReplyDeleteI love the beautiful scene you have created - its really magical.
ReplyDeleteWould also be great with a Santa and sleigh flying past for Christmas cards.
No big oven for me - just a mini potable one - it does have a wonderful cleaner though - he's called Dave :)
Happy Friday to you... Gill x
Brilliantly designed art journaling Chris, love it and love the colours. I too have a self cleaning oven but as it's still new I have not had to clean it...not sure how it works..xx

Magical page and the little girl looks like she may be wishing on a star! I love the way the moonbeams shine through the window onto her face, beautiful! Happy Friday! J :-)
ReplyDeleteI know what you mean about oven cleaning. I did mine a few weeks back on a cool day and didn't use it for a bit too. Love your beautiful piece. The princess gazing at the moon dreaming of finding her prince. That's what I think of. Happy weekend. Hugs-Erika

Wow, Chris this is amazing! I love the moonbeam, it's a fabulous effect and you nailed it! What an inspired idea and a beautiful sentiment to go with it. Love what you've done with this beautiful image. Not so keen on the oven cleaning, I feel thoroughly guilty now, as mine has needed a clean for weeks! I'll get to it eventually. Hugs, Wends xoxo
ReplyDeletePrecious piece you created.
ReplyDeleteStars are so full of magic and you have captured the beautiful moonbeams beautifully here.
There are definitely lots more fun things than cleaning and especially OVENS ;-)
