Be Yourself...

Good morning,  hope you have enjoyed a good week , August is almost done - it's been a strange month weatherwise (even for the UK)- sweltering temperatures at the beginning of the month- two weeks later and it's unseasonably cold, wet and windy - feels very autumnal already!
Kids are back at school next week, my three school age granddaughters are really looking forward to getting back to normal (or approaching normal!) and seeing their friends again. I'm hoping that they all stay safe and well, but I do think it's vital that they get back to school.
Here's the card I made for this week's challenge at Sweet Stampin', the theme this week is 'paper piecing'. I made the background on the gelli plate, brayered DIs, sprinkled water and then stencilled the flowery swirls. The stamps are Polkadoodles (Ulla Be Yourself Stamp Set). The girl is stamped and coloured with copics, paper pieced dress, glittered wings, fussy cut and popped onto foam. I stamped the little butterflies onto the background and coloured them, then stamped them again onto card, cut them out and stuck them on top, folding out wings for dimension.
Please hop on over to Sweet Stampin' - there are some fabulous makes from my teamies to give you inspiration- and we would love to have you play along this week.
Thank you for visiting- enjoy the weekend.
Chris

  17. Seriously delish Chris! Love that sweet wistful image and your paper piecing is perfect! We've had very Autumnal Weather here too, yet it's Spring! LOL. Not a lot of Spring showing yet though. Just dark, cold, wet days. My kiddos went back to school today after two more weeks of lockdown. Poor kids, it's been so disruptive. Georgie has exams this year, so feeling a wee bit stressed! Anyway, it seems to be effecting us all in varying degrees. Hope you're staying safe and well. Hugs, Wends xoxo

  21. Hi Chris,
oh that card is very beautiful and so wonderfully coloured too.
Love the shape and your beautiful background.
Isn't she the cutest coloured and paper pieced perefctly as well.
Yes in these strange times I do so hope all children going back to school are safe.
Two of my Grand Children have not been since March.
The eldest starts 6th form and has to wear a suit and tie.
He got brill results in his exams he didn't sit just on his course work.
My Granddaughter goes back to her 2nd year in high school after missing most of her first but doing her work at home.
I think they may find it hard to settle at first.
Lots of crafty love. Jenny L.

  23. This is just gorgeous Chris. Loving your background. Still weighing up if I NEED a gelli plate!! Hope the grandkids settled in well. Two of our boys just loved it. The older one has only had one day in and now waiting to see what the schedule will be for them as the school can't fit full classes yet!

  24. How beautifully done! I love your backing that you made with the Gelli plate- and your darling girl image is adorable! Great card shape as well!
We have a variety of areas doing different things with back to school- here, the kids grades 1-5 are attending school but are dismissed at 1PM, kids 6-12 are doing at home virtual learning. My daughter teaches 9th grade in the city of Chicago- they are virtual and I am happy about that for her sake!
