Where did you get that hat?

Good morning, a quick post from me today as I have a busy day planned...off to visit Mum in a bit, pop into library on the way to top up essential 'book fix', then this evening I'm off to the cinema with my lovely daughter, we're going to see 'Room', I loved the book so I hope I'm not disappointed with the film! Still, it'll be a treat to spend some time with Steph!
The card is my DT make for this week's challenge at Fab N Funky -as it's the last Wednesday of the month the theme is 'Christmas'!  The cute snowman is a Woodware stamp, coloured with copics (that took the longest) , matted onto red then green cardstock . The stamp is quite big and fits perfectly onto a DL size card! Quick and simple! I liked it so I made 2 more, the left hand one using a chalkboard technique, sorry totally rubbish photo but looks qutie effective IRL (quick too!), the other one is paper pieced.

I'm quite proud of the start I've made on 2016 Christmas cards...it won't last but I'm determined to be well ahead this year so there's no last minute rush to get them finished. Why not join us at Fab N Funky this week with your own Christmas make? You'll certainly be pleased you did when next December is arrives, and you could be the lucky winner of a fabulous prize from our sponsor this week

Thanks for visiting , hope your day is a good one!

Vintage...or shabby chic?

Good morning, well the weekends here again and that means it's time for a new challenge over at Sweet Stampin'. Our theme this week is 'Vintage or Shabby Chic' and we're sponsored by Live and Love Crafts.
To make my card (not sure if it's vintage or shabby chic....perhaps a bit of both!) I unearthed a photograph style stamp that I have had for a very loooong time, I have no idea who it's by, it's wood mounted but there's no name on the block, think I bought it from ebay...anyway, I think she's a lovely image and I'm trying to use some of my old and neglected stamps! I stamped her using a dark brown distress ink onto a piece of white cardstock, then roughed up the edges slightly, mounted this onto a blue die cut frame which was generously treated to some aged silver embossing enamel and a few swipes of the brown distress ink. I added this to several layers of dp and card, each of which was distressed, frantaged etc. A little texture paste stencilled onto the blue layer too. The sentiment is LOTV , flowers and metal embelly from stash. It was fun to make, and I'm so pleased I used this lovely stamp again!
Thanks for stopping by today, hopefully you'll be tempted to join in this fab challenge...just click here to visit the Challenge Blog, I'm sure you'll love seeing what the rest of  Team Jacky have created! We'd love to see what you make too...just don't forget to stamp something!

Birthday Girl

Good evening, hope everyone's well and starting to wind down for the weekend! Just popping in with the card I made for my (very glamourous) 'baby' sister! I picked this gorgeous East Wind image as it has a very definite look of Claire about it! Coloured with copics, simply matted onto different sized rectangles of black and white cardstock, some embossed, some left plain. The letters are die cut from the same card. I added a few tiny purple gems...Claire loves a bit of bling!

Thanks for visiting, have a great weekend.

Snow!

Good morning, I've made a snowy card for for the new challenge starting today at Creative Moments. The optional theme this fortnight is 'Snow'.....some people may have had enough of this just lately to last them a lifetime....! So far I've been very lucky, no snow here...yet! It is bloomin cold though!
I made a centre step card and used some adorable images from Melonheadz to finish the little scene, they are from the melonheadz season winter combo pack - coloured with copics and fussy cut, so many cute images to choose from in this pack, couldn't fit them all on one card!
Hope you'll be tempted to join us this fortnight, we have no less than 4 fabulous sponsors for this challenge, so lots of chances to win a prize!

Mid challenge reminder for Crafty Calendar

Well, here we are -the middle of January already...Christmas seems like a distant dream...before we know it will be here again...! I'm not wishing the time away, it passes too quickly as it is, but I have to admit I am looking forward to spring, this cold weather is a nasty shock after the mild (if very wet!) winter we have had so far. I'm waffling on a bit here so I'll get back to the reason for this post - it's to remind you that there's still plenty of time to join in with this month's challenge at Crafty Calendar. The theme is 'Something New' so plenty of scope there! There are two prizes on offer from our lovely sponsors this month, Wild Orchid Crafts and All Dressed Up.

For my card I used a sweet image Little Skater, from All Dressed Up, I've coloured her with copics and added loads of  Wink of Stella to her dress. The card shape is my 'Something New' -another gorgeous template from Sandra's Scrapshop, this time an ice-skating boot. It was fun to make!
Thanks for visiting...don't forget to join the fun!

For a child

Good morning! Today sees the start of a new challenge at Fab 'N' Funky, with a lovely theme of 'for a child', sponsored by Inky Impressions and hosted by the talented Jools, just click here to visit her lovely blog.
I made this card, using Angelica's Bunny Hugs from Inky Impressions,  with my 6 year old granddaughter in mind, she has long curly blond hair and huge blue eyes, she's really affectionate....always ready for a hug or cuddle...and she is obsessed  (not too strong a word:) with toy rabbits!!!! Like many small girls her favourite colour is pink....
There are loads of beautiful cards from the DT to inspire you over at Fab N Funky Challenge Blog so why not pop over and have a look? Then it's your turn to create something for a child to inspire us!

Flowers.... to brighten a dull day

Good morning...I'm back again, seem to have been around a lot this week! Today it's my card for our lovely new challenge at Sweet Stampin', which is, as you can guess by the title of this post, 'flowers to brighten a dull day'....how lovely is that?!
I used a beautiful image from A Day For Daisies which I've coloured with copics, papers from stash, sorry don't know the make, a film strip die and a leaf die, a scrap of lace and some flowers from Wild Orchid Crafts , who, incidentally, are sponsoring this challenge.
We hope you'll be tempted to join in with this fab challenge, such a lot of scope here...all you need to remember is to stamp something!
Just click here to be inspired by my teamies' beautiful creations...and of course, to add your own!
Enjoy the weekend

Never too old.......

...for fairytales, so true! I've been an avid reader ever since I can remember, a lot of my childhood was spent with my nose stuck in a book, totally oblivious to the world around me! I always loved fairy tales, the dark scary core hidden in the best ones is irresistible!
I was lucky enough to win this fabulous Bookaholic image in a previous challenge at The East Wind and couldn't wait to colour that gorgeous hair! Instead of creating a card with her I did what I have been promising myself for ages and dug out my altered book journal, made from an old hardback book, (started  in a class several years ago, and sadly neglected!). So a journal page rather than a card this time. The image is so stunning that I  kept the page quite simple, printing out a page of a story, sticking it in the book and hiding the join by painting a deep black border with acrylic paint. I stamped the border with a tiny swirl stamp in gold metallic ink and doodled some stars with Cosmic acrylic drawing ink. The fairy silhouettes are Lavinia stamps. The main image is coloured with copics. I sooo enjoyed making this! I'm definitely going to make some more pages this year!

One for the girls

New Year, new challenge and some lovely new teamies! It's all happening at Southern Girls Challenge! Just click here if you don't want to miss out on the fun! The theme this fortnight is 'one for the girls' -so a lovely easy one to start the year! We have two wonderful sponsors All Dressed Up and Ppinkydolls so there are some gorgeous prizes on offer for our lucky winners.
For my card I used the adorable For You image from All Dressed Up (thank you!). I printed her onto white card, coloured her with copics then cut the bottom edge of the white card with a curved edge die, faux stitching around the edges. This image is so sweet I wanted to keep the design very simple, so after matting onto the dp I added a little die cut heart banner and a flower (die cut with a new Crealies flower die)...and that's about it!
As I already mentioned we do have some lovely and talented new teamies starting today...and as always there is loads of fabulous inspiration to be seen on the Challenge Blog, both from the new girls and the 'old faithfuls'!! so why not pop over for a look!
Thanks for visiting and hope you have a great day!

New beginnings at Creative Moments

Good morning, hope everyone's new year has started well! There's a new challenge starting today at Creative Moments with an optional theme of  'new beginnings' - interpret that as you will- so I decided to make a new baby card (my sister's bestie is due to produce her first baby any minute!). I was asked to make some cards for her.... sex of baby not yet known, so neutral colours in order! I'm a bit disappointed with the way the colours look in the photo as the card is shades of cream and brown - not yellow and green, but was the best I could get given the current lighting conditions! The image I used , courtesy  of QKR Stampede, our lovely sponsor this time- is Special Delivery. The  big birdie  and his little bundle were coloured with copics, the sky with distress inks..The cream card is embossed with tiny hearts. sentiment stamp is Paper Smooches. I added twine and a safety pin charm.
It's been great getting back to crafting after the Christmas break, nice to have a little time to myself again after all the festivities....so if you're feeling the need for a little 'crafting time' why not join us this fortnight...remember the theme is optional so you can make whatever you choose, a great opportunity to try out those lovely new goodies Santa left you!. Just click here to be transported to the Challenge Blog, there's plenty of fabulous creations from my lovely teamies to inspire you!
Thanks for visiting, have a lovely day!

Happy New Year

First of all I'd like to wish you  a very Happy New Year and hope that 2016 will be full of  great things for all of you! It's been a busy couple of weeks for me, taken up with friends and family, so apologies if I've been a bit lax with visiting and comments, life should be getting back to normal now the festivities are over....quite a relief as far as eating and drinking are concerned!
On to todays creation which is my DT project for this month's challenge at Crafty Calendar...the theme...'Something New'. We have 2 amazing sponsors this month Wild Orchid Crafts and All Dressed Up stamps, who gave the DT some beautiful images to play with! I made this snowglobe box using a template from Sandra's Scrapshop (my 'something new'). These templates are amazing...and easy to use! I coloured the cute Cool Dudes digi, which includes the boy and the dog, and then ruthlessly cut it up to fit in the 'globe'! I added some small 'snowballs' behind the acetate. The little dog is attached to the wooden tag on the front! The box was filled with choc coins (and some cash!) as a gift for my nephew! He liked it!

Thanks for looking today, please take the time to pop over here and see what my lovely teamies have made for you to enjoy. Then it's your turn to get out all those wonderful new goodies that Santa brought you and join in!
