A card and a hare...

Well. where did that week go! This summer is rushing by so fast, I'm glad I've been making the most of the lovely weather we've had. I hope the warm spell lasts a few more weeks as we're off on holiday in September - Devon is a lovely place to be, especially when the weather is good, so fingers crossed.

I used my Copics to colour up this cute Mo Manning image and made this quick card using old papers from my stash, it looked a bit plain so I added some stamping to the edges of the image panel and the grey background panel using Uniko border stamps, the  digital sentiment stamp is from Polkadoodles.

I've also been having a go at needle felting, inspired by Pinky's amazing projects. I discovered that my cousin knew how to felt and spent a lovely afternoon with her, my sister and a friend being shown how to wet felt and needlefelt. Since then I've bought some basics and tried the needle felting at home. My first attempt was a sheep. It looked a bit like an emaciated dachshund with mange and dodgy legs and went in the bin. My sister and my daughter are still laughing about it- rude!! Next I made a bear- well a head of a bear- it was far to big and I ran out of the yarn I was using...another resident for the bin. Yesterday I sat in the garden and made a hare...

Ok- his eyes are wonky and one ear is bigger than the other but I'm quite proud of him- he's a lot better than the sheep!

Enjoy the weekend

Butterflies

Good morning, hope you are enjoying a lovely weekend, it's been pretty quiet here but today we're joining my sisters, brother and brother-in-law for lunch, so looking forward to that- no cooking is always a  winner in my book!

Today sees the start of our August Challenge at Stamping Sensations, the theme is Bees, Birds and Butterflies chosen by Carol, of course you can choose to use the Anything Goes option as long as there is visible stamping on your entry.

There are 2 prizes of beautiful Lavinia Stamps to be won.

I used an Aall & Create stamp to make my card, together with a script stamp and sentiment from other brands. I stamped onto white cardstock and added some subtle colour to the background using inks and a mesh stencil, stamped the butterfly twice more, coloured with watercolours and covered with Wink of Stella for a bit of sparkle. Fussy cut and added one over the top of the original stamped image and the other over the script. I added a few tiny gems to finish.

As always there is plenty to inspire you over at the Challenge blog where you will find full details of  how to join in and the lovely prizes to be won.

Thanks for visiting

Number 7

Good morning, so far this year I have managed to make the grand total of 7 Christmas cards... this is number 7.  A winter scene using Card-io and Inkylicious stamps and Distress Inks, quick and simple which I what I need.
A quiet day in store for me today, Hubby has gone to a Classic car show with his partner in crime, so just me and Marvin, a walk in the woods, a quiche to make for later, then the rest of the day is mine...reading or crafting?? decisions, decisions!
Have a lovely day, whatever you are doing.

Super Duper Birthday

Hello- what's happened to the sunshine today? It's a bit disappointing after the lovely weather we had yesterday but a lot more typical of our British summers. My son and his family are camping this weekend so I hope it perks up a bit for them, not a lot of fun if everything gets soaking wet, not that it will bother the girls, they love sleeping in a tent and have been known to sleep through high winds and thunder storms!

I made this card just because. The image is one of Mo Manning' s older ones and always makes me smile, reminding me of Ruby when she was small- wild hair, a big smile and oh how she loved to dress up! Coloured with Copics, I kept the design very simple because of the big die cut, it would have looked better if I'd stuck the 'birthday' on straight, by the time I noticed it was stuck too firmly to do anything about it :(

Ruby, aged 3 " Nanny, of course fairies wear wellies when it rains"

This chubby-cheeked little poppet is now almost 16- where did those years go! She still gives me the best hugs , even though she does have to bend down to do it these days!

Just tagging along

Yesterday I made a tag to join in with this month's Tag Along and ATC Challenge, a fun way to spend a wet afternoon! The tag base is an A&C die, cut from white cardstock inked an stencilled in shades of green, I used 2 Lavinia stencils for this. I cut an arched aperture from the centre and stamped and embossed the garden sentiment on the black base tag.  The silhouette stamps were a magazine 'freebie' many moons ago, I added a die cut leafy sprig and another embossed sentiment.
The insert is ATC size, not sure if counts as an ATC because I added the little tab to the side. I stencilled the clouds, stamped the birds and sentiment and added another die cut sprig and a doodled border.

Have had a lovely day today, celebrating my youngest granddaughter's 6th birthday. It seems like yesterday she was a tiny baby, they do grow up too fast!

Did someone say cake?

Good morning, is it just me or is this summer just flying by! Late July already and the children breaking up for the summer, I do hope we have some good weather over the next month or so, it must have been horrible for them to be shut inside a hot classroom - or exam room- when the sun is shining outside. I think it's much easier for parents to keep them entertained when the weather is good too- and a lot less expensive to be able to go the park or beach for picnic than it is to try to keep them occupied when it's raining all the time.
Ok, enough waffling and on to the card- my DT make for this fortnight's challenge at
the theme is Anything but a square.
I think this fold is called a bandstand?, quite simple to do and it folds nice and flat to post. The cute image is from Beccy's Place and I've coloured using my markers. Papers are from Polkadoodles. I've stamped and white embossed the Happy Birthday sentiment.

A quick reminder

Good morning, a quick post today with a reminder of our July Challenge at Stamping Sensations. The theme for this month is Anything Goes with an option of Summer Blooms. I found this floral stamp in my stash- years old, it's part of a set of clear stamps, lost its packaging years ago, so I don't know the brand. A quick and simple card, the background is Distress Oxide ink in shades of pink , yellow and orange through a postage style  stencil. The sentiment is from another very old stamp set, I think Woodware, but guess what- no packaging!

Please hop over to the main challenge blog for some lovely inspiration from the rest of the team, full details of how to join in and the lovely prizes on offer.

Thanks for visiting, have a great weekend- whatever the weather (thunderstorms forecast here but we really do need some rain!)

Fairy Cari

Hello, a non-DT card today, few and far between lately! It's been too lovely outside to be indoors ....and then of course there was Wimbledon....not a lot of time to craft!

I recently saw that a new Challenge blog had started up- new ones are few and far between these days so I  wanted to join in and show some support. The Challenge is CRAFTS FROM THE FAIRY DEN, pop over and take a look!

I made a card, using the optional sketch and one of my favourite Mo Manning fairies, which I've coloured with my markers, light stencilling in the background, white looked too stark!  Papers are from The Works and I've added a couple of die cut leaves.

Monster birthday

Good morning, it's time for a new challenge at Crafty Catz.

This fortnight we are sponsored by Last Minute Manda

The theme is Anything Goes with the option of Child's Birthday

I made a birthday card for a little boy using sponsor  images from a set called Monster Birthday Train.

For the front of the card I cropped the engine image to use just the monster balanced on the top, coloured it with my markers and added the die cut 'hello' and stamped sentiment. It looked a bit too bare so I added a doodled border.

Inside  there's a pop up train, all coloured with markers and cut out to stand on the hand drawn track. Stencilled clouds and a peeping sun in the background. I had a lot of fun making this!

There's plenty more inspiration to enjoy over at Crafty Catz Challenge Blog.

Summer blooms

Good morning, haven't we had a great summer so far, so many days of lovely sunshine. Ok I didn't enjoy the extreme temperatures (extreme for the UK that is!) at the beginning of the week but it's been a lot cooler since then but still lots of sun. Not enough rain to keep the grass green but plenty of flowers in the garden to enjoy, which brings me on to the theme this month over at Stamping Sensations- Summer Blooms, chosen by Avril, or of course you can always use the Anything Goes option. There are 2 lovely prizes of  Aall &Create stamps/stencil to be won.

I decided to go for hot colours to match the weather, so stamped and white embossed my image (a Woodware stamp) onto white cardstock blended several colours of Distress Oxides over it  then added a little stencilling using A & C stencil #-249- Circular Disruption (my new favourite!) I added a die cut frame and stamped sentiment.

For full details of how to enter, the lovely prizes on offer and fabulous inspiration from the rest of the team please hop over to Stamping Sensations.

...and another Christmas card!

Good morning,  it's time for a new challenge at Fab 'n' Funky.

Our lovely host for this fortnight is Pat, her chosen theme is

CHRISTMAS IN JULY.

It was so hot I went with a frosty look!

A gelli plate background in cool blues, I die cut the word 'snow' using my old Cricut machine and used the negative and an embossing pen to stencil the word 3 times onto the panel, then heat embossed using white EP. I stamped and embossed the snowflakes around the edge and stamped the 'Chill out' sentiment a few times. Two die cut snowflakes and a cute A & C snowman added to finish.

This will be our last challenge before we break for the summer so I do hope you'll find the time to join in.

A Christmas card...

Good morning,  time for a new challenge over at Crafty Catz
The theme is ANYTHING GOES, hosted by our lovely Auntie Sue
our sponsor this time is

We've been enjoying (well most of the time-wasn't keen on 32 degrees) a lot of warm sunshine here in the SE.  so of course I had the urge to make a Christmas card, as you do!
I used a beautiful sponsor image, Winter Warmer, which I enjoyed colouring with my markers. I used Chunky White Embossing Enamel for the snow effect.  Image framed with tartan paper from stash, a stamped sentiment embossed in gold and three tiny star brads.
Please hop over to the Challenge blog to see what my lovely teamies have created - we hope you'll be inspired to join us.

You are my sunshine

Good morning,  whew, what a scorcher it's been this week! Definitely not complaining though I hope it doesn't get any hotter, forecast is for cooler temps next week but still good with lots of sunshine.

The theme at Sweet Stampin' for this fortnight is very apt- You are my sunshine, so use at least one stamp, follow the theme and you're all set to join in!

A lot of my card is hand drawn, the circle for the sun and the doodled rays and lettering around the edges, some of the patterns between the rays using an orange glitter pen. I used stamps for the sentiment, masked off some sections and stamped the rest of the patterns in orange. The yellow background is coloured with pencils.

Thanks for visiting, have a great weekend and stay safe in the sun!

65th Wedding Anniversary

Hello, back again with a second card today. This one is for this fortnight's challenge at

The theme is Graduation OR Anniversary, chosen by Buffy.

I made this card for my dear friends' 65th Wedding Anniversary, which is Sapphire - so is 45th Anniversary so a bit confusing! Anyway went with blue and white and added some bling to the stamped, embossed numerals. I cut out the numbers and popped them up on foam for a little dimension. the stamped, embossed sentiment banner was treated the same way. The numerals are part of a clear stamp set- Rufus Rabbit Decorates, they are pretty large the card base is 7 x 7 inches.

There's more inspiration from my teamies at Fab'n'Funky Challenge blog, and of course we'd love to see what you can create for this challenge

I don't go crazy

Good morning, I'm here with a reminder of our June Challenge at
there's still plenty of time to join in.
 The theme is
Our Furry Friends or Anything Goes
there are some lovely prizes of Penny Black stamps from Buddly Crafts

I recently had a little shopping spree over at Aall & Create and couldn't wait to use my new goodies- just had to buy the crazy grinning dog stamp! He's coloured with Copic markers, fussy cut and sitting on a washi tape rug! the background is blended Dioxides stencilled using my new favourite A&C stencil- the blue bit is Nuvo stone drops squished through it. If you can't read the tiny print on the sentiment strips it says: I don't go crazy. I am Crazy. I go normal from time to time. A perfect description of our dog!

As always there's plenty to see over at Stamping Sensations- fabulous inspiration cards from the rest of the Design Team so head on over and check it out!

Coffee...or wine

Hello, a quick post today to share an ATC I made to enter into this month's Tag Along and ATC Challenge.

I started with a lightly smooshed base- the card is glossier than I'm used to so a bit tricky to stamp on. The sentiment and images are from a set I won some years ago from Newton's Nook. Sentiment, wine glass and coffee beans stamped directly on to card, the cup and grapes stamped onto card scrap coloured and cut out. A little stencilling using A&C stencil (my new favourite) and a doodled border.

Thanks for looking!

Summer is back!

Good morning, hope the sun is shining where you are, it's so good to have the warm weather again after the cooler spell.
This fortnight's challenge at Crafty Catz begins today, our lovely sponsor is
Janet has picked the optional twist of  HOT COLOURS.
I've had this sweet mermaid digi (Mo Manning- I think it's a Patreon image) for some time and finally found time to colour her up. I've used my markers for the image and Distress Oxides for the sea and sky plus a touch of white gel pen. Sentiment is a stamp- old magazine freebie. I used a punch to make the border.
Well that's it from me, don't forget to check out the beautiful cards from the rest of the team over at Crafty Catz.

Add a sentiment at Crafty Calendar.

Good morning, the June challenge starts today at Crafty Calendar,  I've scheduled this post as, all being well,  I 'll be going wild in the aisles at the Kent Stamperama show. We get very few craft shows locally so it's a real treat!

This month our theme is to ADD A SENTIMENT- as simple as that!
There's a prize of some lovely Heffy Doodle stamps and dies for our lucky winner.

I used a cute All Dressed Up image, coloured with markers, added sparkle to her rainbow wellies (I have been reliably informed by my youngest granddaughter that these are the best wellies to have.) The die cut panel looked a little bare so I inked the edges, some stencilling and stamped the sentiment.
The papers are from The Works.

There's more inspiration from the rest of the team over at Crafty Calendar- hope you can join in this month.
Enjoy the weekend

Good morning, our new challenge at Fab 'n' Funky begins today,
this fortnight our theme is Use your Die Cuts, so nice and simple!
I needed a new home card for my lovely hairdresser who recently moved house. I used Aall &Create frame and alphabet dies to cut the background and letters from a piece of card, the result of a session with the gelli plate with some added stencilling. The house is a Picture This stamp, coloured with markers and fussy cut.

For Emily

Good morning, June has arrived, I wonder what the weather has in store for us this month- May was pretty amazing so fingers crossed we'll get more of the same.

The June Challenge at Stamping Sensations begins today, the optional theme for this month is

Our Furry Friends, chosen by Anesha ,or you can take part using the Anything Goes option.

There are 2 lovely prizes of Penny Black stamps  from Buddly Crafts  to be won.

It was granddaughter Emily's 11th birthday last month, as part of her gift I decided to give her money as she likes to choose her own clothes now. I made this gift tag and holder to put it in.

I made the holder first- a simple kraft card, folded down the corner , clipped the edges into curves and decorated with the tartan patterned DP. I added some faux stitching and a chipboard flower, glued the open side and bottom edge

The dog stamp is from Aall & Create, I stamped him to sit on the strips of DP and coloured him with pencils. I thought it looked a bit bare so added the candles- part of the same same stamp set-how lucky that there were 11! I made a tag from kraft to fit inside the holder, adding a pocket cut from the dp.

As always there is plenty of inspiration from the rest of the team over at Stamping Sensations, so please do head on over to check it out and for full details of how to play along with our challenges.

Usual bedtime!

Good morning, time for a new challenge at Crafty Catz,
sponsored  this fortnight by Dr Dig's House of Stamps.
Ginny is hosting this challenge and has chosen the optional twist of
Make us smile but of course you can always enter  using the Anything Goes option.

The image I used is Netflix and Chill- this made me laugh out loud when I saw it, could definitely be me and hubby! (Although I like to think we're not quite that round!)
I coloured using my markers, then fussy cut round the image and placed it the panel with the tasteful green wallpaper and wood floor, their 'room' looked a bit stark so I gave them a furry rug to keep their toes warm- still something missing...so I gave them a dog!- that's more like it.
(dog image is from Perfect Sunday- flipped and fussy cut)
The stamped sentiments are from a set with missing packaging so not sure of make.
There's plenty more inspiration to be found over at Crafty Catz!

Did someone say cake?

Good morning, I'm back from my holiday and here to share my DT card for this fortnight's challenge at Sweet Stampin'-
the theme this time is Boys, boys, boys
and this is the card I made for my boy who celebrated his 41st birthday at the beginning of this month. How can my baby possibly be that old???!!!

The image is a digital stamp from Beccy's Place, coloured with my markers and fussy cut. I  gave them a fence to lean on, stencilled the clouds and stamped the sentiments.

While I'm here I'd like to say a huge thank you for all the lovely comments left by my lovely blog friends while I was away- very much appreciated.

I'll leave you with a photo of Marvin- he thoroughly enjoyed his holiday- lots of walks in woodland and several visits to the beach- no problems with his 'swimmers tail' this time thank goodness!

We went for a peaceful forest walk... Marvin found a bog to play in... he was happy- I was not - particularly when he shook right next to me. We then took him to the beach for a cleansing swim...he was even happier...

Deco Birthday

Good morning, this is a scheduled post, a reminder for our May Challenge at
The optional theme for this month is FEMININE, but as always Anything Goes as long as there is visible stamping.

I used a stamp that I've had for years and remains a firm favourite, it's an unmounted rubber stamp, part of a set I think- but its packaging has disappeared and I cannot remember the brand. The image is coloured with Copic markers and various glitter/sparkle pens of different brands.( Never seem to have a lot of luck with these. I've tried so many different brands, I'm careful to replace the lids but lots of them seem to dry up/block up very quickly- with no rhyme or reason! Some of the pens in the sets are brilliant and go on for ages while others just give in and turn up their toes in no time at all. I've tried looking at UTube for solutions to the problem but no luck there either!  So if anyone can recommend glitter pens that don't dry/block up I'd be grateful!)

Anyway, back to the card, image was placed in a die cut frame- cut from glitter card. The background design is built up from strips of card which have been dry embossed. I inked the embossing folder first with Bermuda Elements ink (love that colour!) I matted the strips onto silver glitter card to match the frame, then matted onto the black card, then silver again. I added some very narrow strips of the glitter card with tiny square gems to finish my layout, stamped and heat embossed the sentiment onto black card.

Please head on over to Stamping Sensations Blog for lots of inspiration, full details of how to enter, and the lovely prize on offer.

Use Blue and Green.
Our sponsor for this challenge is

I used a cute image, Benjamin, courtesy of our generous sponsor.
He's coloured up with Copic markers and fussy cut. I wanted a graffiti background, so drew my design onto white cardstock and used my markers to colour it- I added a little stamping too. I stamped the sentiment then embossed using a brick wall EF. Image is popped up on foam.

Have a mice day...

Good morning, time for a new challenge at Fab 'n' Funky, I have no idea where that fortnight went! Probably spent far too much time reading...but that weather was wonderful while it lasted!
The theme for this fortnight is HAVE A MICE DAY, chosen by our lovely Pat, she would like to see mice on your creations, I think it's a great theme and was spoilt for choice as I seem to have a lot of mouse-y stamps.
I decided to use some House Mouse stamps, and make some tags as these images are quite small. On the left we have Amanda, the first HM mouse I owned, it's wood-backed and still stamps as good as new. On the right is a much newer cling rubber stamp, this little guy with his huge stack of books is a mouse after my own heart, both coloured with markers and then masked so I could stencil the backgrounds. I die cut 4 tag shapes from white card, then cut apertures into two of them, inked and stamped the top layers and added ribbon to finish.

There's more to inspire from the rest of the ladies over at Fab'n' Funky -,hope you'll be tempted to join in this fun theme and share your mouse-y creations with us.

Thanks for visiting, have a lovely day

ATC x 3

I made some ATCs to play along with the new Tag Along and ATC Challenge, it's great to have a new and different challenge to join in with. I didn't think I'd made any before but found a couple I'd made previously and forgotten all about, lurking in a drawer. I'm not sure but may have blogged them already so thought I'd better not use them!  I trawled through my stamps looking for inspiration and decided on an arty theme. It's amazing how many stamps you can use on a tiny piece of card! The background cards were all cut from left over pieces of card previously inked up during messy inky sessions, hate throwing them away so was pleased to find a use for them. So here's the result, I've used various different brands of stamp- some of them I've had for years, never used before. I've also used washi tape and stickers and added a bit of doodling here and there. It's made me look at my stamp stash in a different way and I think I could get addicted!
