Last minute Christmas at Fab'n' Funky

Good morning! Brrr, another chilly one here! Fed up with the ice and snow now, just want it to go away! The novelty wore off extremely quickly especially now that it's so dangerous and slippery outside, lovely and warm in here though- I'm having the heating on, I'll just whinge about it later when we get the bill!
Marvin was a bit bemused by the snow at first, not at all sure what to make of the cold white stuff in his garden. He looked really funny hopping around, trying not to leave his feet in it for too long, soon got used to it though and had a lot of fun playing with equally excited dogs in our local woods. Yesterday he took his precious ball out in the garden and spent ages burying it under the snow and then raking it back up again! Then he decided to lie down in the snow, staring at his ball -willing it to move- so I made him come indoors!
First experience of snow- not quite sure- but tail is wagging!

Snow is not up to his chest- he's lying down -crazy dog!

Today sees the start of our last challenge this year over at Fab'n' Funky,

the theme is Last Minute Christmas.

For me it's always tags I need at the last minute- every year I say I'll start them earlier...and every year I don't, so, of necessity, they need to be fairly quick to make! I found an old pack of kraft tags I'd forgotten about, stamped and embossed the sentiments then drew and cut out some simple red 'hats'. They looked a bit plain so I made a kind of stencil and spread my home-made texture paste through it (paste made with baby powder, whit paint and glue- smells lovely!) Stuck on the wobbly eyes and a red Crystal Drop nose, a tiny pompom for his hat. added red bakers twine. Finished with white faux stitches and die cut snowflakes. Took me longer than I planned to make but I do like them!

My lovely team have made some super projects if you're stuck for inspiration for those last minute makes so please hop over here to enjoy them- hope to see you join in with your own fabulous creations.

Thanks for visiting

Last Minute Christmas at Crafty Catz

Good morning, hope everyone is keeping well and staying warm, this cold weather is a bit of a shock to say the least. It was so mild up to a few days ago and now we're waking up to heavy frost- that stays around all day- and they're even mentioning the 's' word! Haven't had any snow to speak of here for a few years now, I'm wondering what Marvin will make of it if we get a snowfall- he was excited enough about the frost, was running round the garden like a wild thing and it took ages to calm him down.

This week is our last challenge for the year at Crafty Catz, Aunty Sue is hosting and has picked the optional theme of 'Last Minute Christmas'.

We are sponsored for this challenge by the fabulous Dr Digi.

I made a card using the brilliant Stuck Santa image, coloured with Copic markers. The sentiment is computer generated, I've added die cut icicles and glitter, and some fluffy stuff to the fur trim on Santa's hat and coat.

Check out the Challenge Blog to see the fabulous cards my teamies have made using these fun sponsor digis, then why not join in - you can share your last minute Christmas makes- or anything else you wish.

Thanks for visiting, have a lovely weekend- keep safe and warm.

Happiness is...

Good morning, I've two cards to share today- this one is for our December Challenge at
which is sponsored by Lawn Fawn, the theme is anything goes.

This is the card I made for my youngest granddaughter, she doesn't really know what snow is, bless her! But I'm sure she'll be as excited as the other 3 girls if we get some this year!

The sentiment and image are both from Mo Manning- I just love the wonky snowman! I've coloured with Copics and flicked white ink for snow.

It would be lovely to have you join in with us for the last challenge this year- just click here to hop over to the challenge blog, check out the fabulous cards from my teamies and add your own lovely creation.

Thanks for stopping by- I'll be back later today with another DT make.

Penguin Huddle

Good morning, well December has arrived, and the countdown has really begun now! I went shopping yesterday- normal grocery shopping and couldn't believe how the shops have suddenly got so busy! It was difficult to find a parking space- which I hate- I'm not exactly the best 'parker' in the world and of necessity a bit picky when it comes to narrow spaces! It'll get worse before it gets better - the shops I mean, not my parking (I hope!!)

Today's card is for our new challenge at Crafty Catz, Rhoda is hosting and has picked the optional twist of 'Make an easel card ' Our lovely sponsor for this week is

SheepSkiDesigns

Visit Our Shop

I made a slimline easel. the base is silver crackle card which has a lovely icy look, which is perfect with my cute penguins and snowy scene. The penguins are coloured with Copic markers, The background sky is distress inks. I've added a die cut sentiment and snowflake border.

For more inspiration hop over to Crafty Catz to see what my lovely teamies have created with these lovely sponsor images.

No stamped images at Fab'n' Funky

Good morning, there's a new challenge starting today over at Fab'n'Funky-
this fortnight our lovely Ginny is hosting and would like to see creations with no stamped images so time to play with dies and embossing folders.
I'm still making my Christmas cards, so I looked through my dies and found this beautiful Memory Box tree, it's one of the oldest dies I have but I still love it- so delicate and pretty.
I cut a panel of white card and masked it, just leaving a strip slightly off centre, sponged with Distress Ink flicked some water and white ink over it. I stuck the die cut tree on, stamped and embossed the greeting and tied some twine around the panel- nice and quick so I made some more in different colours! I'm happy with the way these turned out.

For more inspiration pay a visit to Fab'n'Funky to see what my talented team have created - and hopefully you'll want to play along- it can be any project for any occasion- just no stamped images please.

Thanks for visiting and have a lovely day

Warm wishes

 Good morning.

Hope you have all enjoyed a good weekend, November is fast disappearing now and Christmas is looming! Time to crack on with those Christmas cards- my aim is to be finished by the end of this week and to get them in the post by next- it won't happen but I can dream!

I felt like a bit of colouring therapy over the weekend, looked through my files and decided on this cutie, it's been ages since I coloured an Aurora Wings image! Coloured with Copics and fussy cut I popped him onto the die cut frame, papers are from the Works, sentiment stamped and embossed with white EP and 4 tiny Nuvo drops to finish.

 Another one done!

Crafty Catz Challenge #616- Optional twist- Blue and Silver

Good morning- just one month to go now until Christmas day- time to start panicking about getting everything organised on time. I still have so many gifts to buy- mainly because it seems to get harder each year to know what to give family and friends- probably because we all have too much already!

Anyway, here's another Christmas card- my DT creation for this week's challenge at

 Crafty Catz

which is sponsored by

Jan’s Digital Stamps

Prize $6 gift certificate
https://www.janmahew.com/

The optional twist of Silver and Blue has been chosen by Janet, our lovely host for this week.

I used a sweet Sponsor image, Caroling, which I've coloured with Copic markers and fussy cut, the background is a piece of DP (magazine freebie), overlaid with torn vellum with silver print - the snow is layers of ripped mulberry paper, I've added a die cut tree, sentiment and musical notes.

As always, some beautiful creations from the rest of team over at Crafty Catz so do hop over for a visit! Remember the theme is optional- ANYTHING GOES- so please do join in!

Thanks for visiting - have a lovely weekend

Stamped cards

Good morning, after looking through my stash of Christmas card I decided it was time to make some simple stamped cards (no time-consuming colouring!) to build up their numbers. Yes, I thought, CAS, monochromatic and as few stamps as possible- try to make several of the same design- not easy for me- I have a low boredom threshold and go off at a tangent. So out came my Lavinia stamps, various types and shades of blue ink pads...and off I go. It started well- die cut a square of whit stamping card with a stitched edge die sponged ink through a mask to make the circle in the middle, stamped the words over it, used the Berry wreath stamp set and mini holly leaf stamp to create the wreath, stamped the bunnies...and looked in horror at the large dark inky fingerprint I'd left on the right- hand side of my card!!! Said some unladylike words. Tried to remove/disguise it but it just looked worse, so I chopped it off, manoeuvring the die to keep a stitched edge. I then inked and stamped the border panel, using the same inks and the holly stamp. Decided that it looked a bit flat so added white Liquid Pearls to the holly berries and a teal-coloured glitter to some of the other berries. Stamped the sentiment. Finished. Not quick!!

I had another try...

much quicker!!!

Happy Birthday Sweet Stampin'!

Good morning, it's party time at Sweet Stampin' - it's our 13th Birthday and we're inviting you all to join in the celebrations by creating a birthday card (or project!) - please remember we need to see some stamping on your entry- a digi stamp is fine as long as it's not pre-coloured!

My image is a digi from Krista Smith, coloured with markers. The background is stamped and clear embossed using a stamp from Aall & Create, the sponged over with shades of blue distress ink, flicked with water and gold mica shimmer spray. The nozzle on the spray bottle is hopelessly blocked so I had a little brainwave (ok, doesn't happen often! and decanted some into an empty spray bottle, sprayed it experimentally and was delighted to see a fine gold mist on my background- not so delighted to find what else I'd managed to spray gold...including the image I'd just finished colouring....

Fortunately it mostly went on her dress and looks rather pretty, if you squint a bit you might just be able to see it on the image below :)

I fussy cut the image and placed it onto the gold glittery die cut (also Aall & Create).  The sentiment was stamped and embossed with white embossing powder.

I do hope you'll have time to join the party this fortnight- if you need some inspiration hop over to the challenge blog to see what the Sweeties have been up to.

Poinsettias

Good morning, this week's challenge at Crafty Catz is hosted by our lovely Ginny, the optional twist this time is Christmas, our fabulous sponsor for this week is

I used the beautiful Poinsettia image, printed twice and coloured with Copic markers then fussy cut and layered with foam pads for extra dimension. I die cut a scalloped frame from white cardstock, the background is a piece of very old vellum printed with gold stars that I found lurking in the bottom of the scrap drawer. A die cut sentiment to finish.

Thanks for visiting hope you have a great weekend.

Christmas animals at Fab 'n' Funky

Good morning, here's my DT make for this fortnight's challenge at Fab 'n' Funky.
The theme this time is CHRISTMAS ANIMALS chosen by our lovely Pat who is hosting this challenge. I've used another new Mo Manning image, Santa Claws was a Patreon freebie and is now available in the store. I've coloured using Copic markers,  a simple layered design using papers from Polkadoodles. The sentiment is stamped and I've addded some little fairy lights.
There's plenty of inspiration from my lovely teamies over at Fab'n' Funky so please do hop over and check them out.

Sweet 16

Good evening, I hope you've had a pleasant weekend. I've had a lovely day today- a visit to a friend with a gift for her birthday, followed by lunch out at a local carvery- I do love a 'no cooking Sunday' !!  This afternoon I made this card for my niece who will be 16 next week, I still think of her as she was at 3- the cutest little scrap of a girl with the cheekiest grin ever!  Hard to believe that she's all grown up now- a real girly girl who loves pretty clothes and is welded to her phone- hence the card! The image is from Krista Smith- so many of these lovely digis are perfect for teen girls. I've used my Copic markers to colour and stencilled around the image, added a little bling. The card design is a simple easel, papers are KaiserCraft- the colours are brighter IRL, not good lighting for the photo!

Must dash now- it'll soon be time for the Strictly result show!

Have a lovely evening

As always, the theme is Anything Goes with an optional twist of Birthday Treats chosen by Christine, this week's host.
To make my card I used one of the cute images from the Baking Up Some Love set. I've used Copic markers to colour and added a little stencilling around the image. Papers are from Polkadoodles and Doodlebug, the sentiment is a stamp and I've added some tiny brads to finish.

November Challenge at Crafty Calendar

Good morning, time for our November Challenge at Crafty Calendar Challenge, this month we're sponsored by the fabulous Mirtillemente, the theme is ANYTHING GOES

I used the cute and quirky Sweet Rudolph to make my card, not sure how he's going to eat his treats with that tongue piercing though! He's all coloured up with Copic markers. Various papers from my stash, most of them scraps! Added tiny buttons and a ricrac trim.

I used this sketch from Creative Sketchy Girls

Please take a look at the beautiful cards from the rest of the team over at the challenge blog, then why not play along? You could be the lucky winner of our sponsor's prize this month.

Never too old for a snowball fight!

Good morning, it's time for a new challenge at Crafty Catz.
My turn to host this week so I got to choose the optional twist - which is 3 OR MORE LAYERS. We have no sponsor this week so it's a just for fun challenge- no prizes but you could be chosen as one of our top 3 and earn a lovely badge to wear on your blog!

I chose to use Snowball Fight, a  cute Mo Manning digi, which I've coloured with Copics, added some glitter and spattered ink snow. The sentiment comes with the image. I've used various scraps of paper from the never diminishing heap and layered them onto a snow embossed panel of white card.

I'm not a fan of snow myself but I do love to see the children ( some of them in this family are very grown up children and parents themselves!) having fun with it!

Do take the time to check out the fabulous cards from the rest of the DT , just click here! Remember , you don't need to follow the twist to join in- anything goes at Crafty Catz.

Thanks for visiting, hope you have a lovely weekend- if you're celebrating the 5th with fireworks please be careful and stay safe!

Shades of Blue at Fab'n' Funky

Good morning, hope your week has been a good one so far. Hallowe'en has been and gone, clocks have changed so for me it's all downhill to Christmas now! We don't celebrate on 5th November now our children have grown, in fact we can't wait for it to be over,  knowing the distress  it causes to so many animals. Marvin couldn't care less but previosly we have owned Great Danes, much more nervous dogs , who were traumatised, reduced to trembling wrecks during all the banging and popping that sounded like bombs going off! Hoping it's over very quickly this year as the 5th falls at the weekend and most families will probably hold their celebrations then rather than spread it out over a fortnight! Ok I'll stop whingeing now and move onto the card.

Our challenge at Fab'n' Funky starts today, hosted by our lovely Pat K  who has chosen the theme 'shades of blue' - it can be for any occasion. I chose to make a Christmas card using stamps and a bauble stencil from Card-io.

There are a lovely variety of creations from the rest of the team over at Fab'n'Funky so do take a look! We hope you'll be inspired to play along .

Thanks for visiting, have a lovely day

Polar Bear Party

Good morning and happy weekend, another 'just because'  card I made to join in a few challenges!

I used the sketch from Moving Along with the Times

and one of my favourite Christmas stamps, Polar Bear Party from Whipper Snapper Stamps. These guys come out every year for an airing- I never tire of colouring them, the stamp stamps beautifully and is easy to cut out, also I haven't seen anyone else use it - I'm sure they have but I haven't seen it! So this card also fits the current challenge at

It's for Christmas, aways a special celebration, so I'm entering this weeks  700th Challenge at Allsorts

The bears are stamped, coloured with Copic markers, fussy cut and popped up on foam. Papers are Carta Bella- All bundled up. Added embellishments are die cut snowflakes, tiny flat back pearls and 3 extra mittens, cut from the dp and popped up on foam so I'm also entering into the current challenge at

My Christmas card stash is growing slowly but steadily, I'm hoping that there'll be no last minute panic this year- it will be a first!

Thanks for stopping by today, much appreciated!

Autumn magic

I'm having a quiet day today, a little time to play and make a 'just because' card.  I made a step card as I haven't made one of  these for ages. The centre panel is a woodlland scene with die cut tree trunks over a distress ink background- colours inspired by our local woods- so beautiful just now. I coloured up another sweet little image from Mo Manning, Fairy Tuttle, another new aquisition that I just couldn't resist! Fussy cut her to stand on the step. I added some cute die cut toadstools , a bunch of leaves and berries tied with string,  and a stamped sentiment.

Trick or Treat!

Good morning, here I am back again already with my DT card for this fortnight's challenge at
the theme  is

Halloween or use Halloween Colours.

I made this card for my two younger granddaughters, Charlotte is only 3 so nothing too scary! The digis are all from Sweet November, coloured with Copic markers- a lot of colouring here- kept me quiet for ages! I masked the houses and used distress inks to colour the sky, added some die cut bats and stamped the sentiment. I had a lovely time making this and I'm pleased how it turned out!

As always, the Sweeties have been busy creating some fabulous cards so do please hop over for a visit!

Add a ribbon at Crafty Catz

Good mornig, well where did that week go???  What with my brother moving house on Monday, flu jabs, daughter's birthday on Wednesday and Granddaughter's birthday today I don't know whether I'm coming or going! We are looking after the birthday girl today as it's half term for her, and her parents and sister will be at work/school. Picking her up at 10am for a leisurely brunch, at 13 years old and being a sporty girl she has an amazing appetite, though you'd never believe it to look at her- she's already 5 ft 8 and skinny as a rake and looks as if nobody feeds her!

Enough of my waffle and on to the card which is my DT make for this week's challenge

We are sponsored  by Hetty Clare Art
Bridget is our lovely host for this week and her chosen theme is Add some ribbon or twine- of course the theme is optional for anyone who wishes to play along.
The image I used was one I already owned, Flower Girl, so sweet!
I've once again used my Copic markers to colour. I've used various remnants of DP to layer up my design and added a large red bow.
There's some fabulous inspiration from the rest of the team over on the challenge blog, so please do head on over to admire their lovely creations. Remember Crafty Catz is an anything goes challenge so it's always easy to join in ...and I hope you do!

The sponsor for this challenge is the fabulous Paper Shelter and the theme is Christmas- Non-traditional Colours.

The team was given this pretty digi to use,  Santa's Cute Helper, I coloured her up with my Copic markers and created a little background scene with stamps and inks, splattered on some 'snow'. The sentiment is a stamp and I've added some bling and die cut snowflakes .

There's plenty of lovely inspiration from the CRAFT team over at the challenge blog so do head on over and take a look.

Seasons Greetings at Fab'n' Funky

Good morning, hope everyone is having a good week so far. It's been a busy one for me- my brother moved into his new home on Monday so I've been cleaning out cupboards and unpacking boxes and boxes of his belongings. He moved from the house where we all grew up, a big house with large rooms to a newer, much smaller house - far easier to maintain and perfect for him as he lives on his own now. He got rid of so much furniture and stuff but it was amazing how much he still had- I think he's going to have be more ruthless than he already has been, it's really difficult to judge what you need before you move in! It's looking good in the new house now though, only boxes in the spare bedroom left to unpack! I'm sure he's going to be very comfortable and happy there.

Todays card is for our new challenge at Fab'n' Funky  The theme for this fortnight is 'Seasons Greetings' chosen by Buffy. I made a CAS Christmas card using a cute image and sentiment from Mo Manning. I coloured the little elf with Copic markers matted it onto dark red card and a kraft card base...and that's it really!

For more inspiration from the Fab'n' Funky girls hop over to the Challenge Blog, we'd love to have you play along this fortnight.
