Beautiful Day

Good morning, I'm happy to say that I'm on time with this week's DT card for
  Crafty Catz Challenges.

This week is a just for fun challenge, no sponsor or prizes, out top 3 picks will still get a lovely badge for their blog.

Billie is our host for this week, she's picked

  Watercolour Background

as her optional twist- lovely! As you can see my background is very simple, I just sloshed on some blue and green watercolours and added a few splats. The mermaid , Krista Smith, is coloured with Copic markers, I matted the image onto a square of DP and stamped the sentiment.

There's loads of wonderful inspiration from the rest of the team over at the challenge blog, so please do hop over and enjoy!

Thanks for visiting today, have a great weekend

Wheels!

Good morning, our new Challenge starts today over at Fab'n' Funky,
Pat is hosting this fortnight and she's chosen a great theme for us
  WHEELS.
I was really pleased to discover this super image in my box of coloured up images, goodness knows how long he's been hiding in there! He's an old favourite from Prairie Fairy, sadly no longer trading. Because he was already coloured this was a quick and easy make, I used a double sided square of DP and made random diagonal cuts from the centre of it, turned back the cut paper to show the reverse side, inked the edges and  stuck it onto a black card base, stuck my biker on top as though he was bursting through.
There's some great inspiration from the rest of my lovely teamies so do hop over to Fab'n' Funky to check them out.
Thanks for visiting

Potted mouse

Good morning- I'm happy to sat that this post is on time! It's my mid- month reminder for the September Challenge at Stamping Sensations, the optional theme is Garden Delights.

I made a rocker card featuring a cute House Mouse stamp- can't say I'd be delighted to see a mouse in one of my garden pots ...but maybe if it was as cute as this one! I stamped some extra sunflowers, I think the stamps were a magazine freebie, and cut them out to decorate the edge and added a tiny tag with a stamped sentiment. Image and flowers coloured with Copic markers.

Please take a look at the challenge blog- you will find all the details of how to enter, the fabulous prize on offer and, last but not least, some beautiful creations from the rest of the team.

Thanks for visiting, have a lovely day.

Tags at Sweet Stampin'

Hello, I'm still running a bit late- but gradually catching up, it's amazing how much there is to do after just a week away. It's been a beautiful day today and I must confess to taking a teeny little time out to have a tiny little read out in the sunshine...it would be a shame to miss out on what will probably be my last chance as it seems the weather is about to change after today.

A new challenge started today over at Sweet Stampin'

- the theme for this fortnight is TAGS.

I die cut a fairly large tag from white cardstock and smooshed it into some purple, yellow and blue distress inks adding a few splatters of the same colours. I stamped the beautiful Pink Ink witch directly onto the tag, then stamped her again onto white card, coloured her with markers, then cut her out-minus her hair- and adhered her onto the first image- a whole lot easier than trying to cut round that hair! I stamped the sentiment and the foliage around the edges using grey Versafine Clair ink, colouring the leaves with a green sparkle gel pen, then tied on some fibres and ribbon. It makes a great bookmark.

Do hop over to the challenge blog to check out the fabulous creations from the rest of the team, I hope you'll be inspired to join us.

Enjoy the rest of the weekend

Happy holiday!

Good morning, we're just back from holiday so I'm a little late with this post- the new challenge at Crafty Catz started yesterday but there's still plenty of time to join in. The optional theme for this week, chosen by our lovely Bridget, is 'DIES'
Our fabulous sponsor this time is

Dr Digi

The image I have used is Selfie Santa, which I coloured with Copics and fussy cut (that little twiggy arm was tricky!) . The merry Christmas die is Memory box  which I've cut from a square of DP (The Works) and placed over an embossed square of white cardstock.

We had a wonderful holiday-great location and accommodation, just 20 minutes walk to the beach,  amazing weather, so warm and sunny but thankfully not too hot for Marvin, who I'm happy to say made up for his disappointing beach day last week- he was in the sea -every day- at least once, sometimes twice and he found a little stream to play in too, not to mention the muddy puddles in the lane after the thunderstorm we had one night! He's such a
waterbaby.

View from sundeck

Same view at sunset

In the sea at last! - In such a hurry to get in he forgot to wear his trunks!

Happy, tired boy drying off in the sun.

Thanks for stopping by- don't forget to check out the challenge blog, as always some fab creations from my teamies to enjoy and admire.
Thank you for all the lovely comments left while I was away, very much appreciated, I will be catching up with you all as soon as I can.

Crafty Catz are back!

Good morning, this is a scheduled post, I should be on holiday in beautiful Devon right now! I'm hoping that we'll be having some lovely weather so that Marvin can give his swimming trunks an airing after our disappointing day on Wednesday. We met our friends as planned BUT there was no beach...just acres of smelly mud as the tide was right out. It was far too hot to wait for the tide to turn 28degrees + and no shade  is not good for dogs! Marvin said he didn't mind having a play in the stinky mud but we were not keen on that idea, such spoilsports, so we had lunch and came home early- much more comfortable for dogs with big fur coats on!. We've promised to make up for it next week so will be on the beach- rain or shine!

My card today is for our new challenge at Crafty Catz, we're back refreshed and raring to go after the summer break. I've used a cute Mo Manning elf and coloured him with Copic markers. Papers from stash, a die cut frame and stamped sentiment.

There are no sponsors this week, so no prizes but we will be picking a Top Three as usual. The optional twist for this week is 'Getting Ready for Christmas' picked by our lovely Aunty Sue or of course you can enter using the Anything Goes option.

There's plenty of inspiration to be enjoyed over at Crafty Catz so please hop over for a visit and of course it would be great to have you join us for this 1st challenge of the season.

Thanks for visiting today, and thanks to everyone kind enough to take the time to leave a comment, always much appreciated.

See you in a week.

Fab'n' Funky - wings or scales

Good morning, Fab'n Funky Challenges are back after the summer break. Our challenge theme for this fortnight is Wings or Scales- or you can use both if you want to.

I made a CAS card featuring a beautiful stamp from the Card Hut. I've coloured the mermaids with Copic Markers, I will add a stamped sentiment when I've decided what I'm going to use it for! I like to have a few non-specific cards in hand just to send as notelets.

Do hop over to Fab 'n Funky for some lovely inspiration  from the rest of the team, hope you can find some time to play along with this challenge.

Off to the beach today, to meet up with some friends- Marvin is very excited and has been wearing his swimming trunks since yesterday!

In the garden

Good morning, it's time for a new challenge at
this month we are sponsored by Stamp Addicts

the optional theme is Garden Delights.
I used some beautiful Lavinia Stamps on an ink blended background to make the front of my card.
The inside is a simple pop up design with a cut out arch on the pop up bit. The wall and sky are stencilled, the rest is various stamps, mainly Lavinia, I think just the grass is a different brand.

Over at the challenge blog you will find loads of inspiration from the rest of the team, so it's really worth a visit,  as always the theme is optional- as long as the main focus of your project is stamping - anything goes!

Penguins...

Good morning- it's me! Can't believe it's two whole weeks since I last blogged, I haven't been ill or on holiday, just busy doing other stuff! A fair amount of reading, some sewing... a top for myself, which I actually liked enough to wear, and nearly finished a dress, jury is still out on that! I was struggling a bit with my machine, which is nearly 50 years old, so treated myself to a new one yesterday, now I'll probably go off sewing again!
I've also had some family time, looking after the younger granddaughters and celebrating my eldest granddaughter's GCSE success, she did brilliantly, we're so proud of her.

My card today is for our new challenge at
sponsored this month by
The image I have used is Penguin Tree, which I've coloured with Copic markers. I found a tutorial on Pinterest with instructions how to fold this star shaped card, it's really simple to do and stands up beautifully when opened and folds nice and flat to post. the papers I used are from the Works, double sided which made it quicker than layering up different DP. I added die cut snowflakes and a die cut sentiment to finish.

Be sure to hop over to Crafty Catz Challenge Blog to check out the inspiration from my lovely teamies.

Anniversary hedgehogs

Good morning, isn't this month just flying by- we're over half way through already and although we've had some lovely weather this week, much warmer and lots of sunshine, I feel a bit cheated that summer is going so very fast. I'm hoping that September will be a late summer rather than an early autumn as I'm just not ready for the season to change yet.

Today's card is for our new challenge at Sweet Stampin', the theme being Anniversary or Wedding.
I used Lavinia stamps and a stencil along with Distress Inks to create this scene.
As always there is plenty of inspiration from my lovely teamies at  Sweet Stampin' Challenge Blog so do hop over and enjoy!

I do like to be beside the sea...

Good morning, a little mid- month reminder of our current challenge over at Stamping Sensations. There is a lovely summery mood board for inspiration

or you can use the 'anything goes' option as long as the main focus of your project is stamping.

I took my inspiration from the beach scene and the colours, using a variety of stamps, some of which were magazine freebies, I stamped the deckchair onto white cardstock, masked it and stamped again to create a matching pair, then stamped the beach umbrella, then cut the card into an L shape to fit the front my card base. Coloured the stamps and background beach scene with markers. The hat, book and sunglasses also coloured with makers and fussy cut. the sentiment is stamped and embossed with white EP.

Please hop over to the Challenge blog for more inspiration and for details of the lovely prizes on offer this month.

Sunshine girl

Good morning,  I've had time to colour up a few images when I've been indoors hiding from the rain! This little sweetie is a Mo's Patreon image, not sure if it's available in the shop.  This makes me smile remembering how happy and excited my youngest granddaughter was on her birthday last month! She's a July baby -all the rest of her nursery class had had their 4th birthdays and she just couldn't wait for it to be her turn- she had the biggest smile on her little face all day long.  I'm finding it very hard to believe that she'll be starting school full time in a couple of weeks, it seems far too young- she's our baby!

Image is coloured with markers, I've paper-pieced her dress and the ribbon on her hat, then added shading with the markers. The sentiment comes with the image.

A journal page

Hello, I haven't been in the craftroom much this week, too busy enjoying the sunshine!
I was enjoying a peaceful read in the garden when annoyingly it started to rain- not heavily but enough to make me give in and come indoors so I thought I would share this journal page.

It is  inspired by the book cover over at the Library Challenge, the image in the top left corner is a digi stamp (Aurora Wings) The rest is doodled apart from the stencilled rays. It's a very relaxing way of spending a couple of hours.
I read the book years ago- and also saw the TV series way back when- it's a good read  and a great plot!

Thanks for visiting,

Happy weekend

Sea you at the beach- GDT DotMCC

Good morning, I recently won a challenge at Day of the Month Card Club and was invited to be a Guest Designer for them this month, thank you ladies.
The August challenge has two themes, you can choose one or combine them both.

I chose the lighthouse option although there is some beach here too. The lighthouse stamp is a magazine freebie from several years ago, I've used watercolours to colour it and create the sea and sky and added a die cut border. The frame is stencilled using a Polkadoodles stencil and Distress Inks.

Don't forget to pay a visit to Day of the Month Card Club for more inspiration.

A little birdie told me to...

Hello Everyone,  I'm here today with my DT card for our August Challenge at

 Stamping Sensations.

This month we have a lovely summer mood board to inspire you, or you can always  use the 'Anything Goes' option if you prefer. Please remember that stamping must be the main element of your project .

I took my inspiration from the colours, the dog in a hat and the little green bird.  I blended some Distress inks onto a panel of cardstock, Stamped the dog- a Marvin lookalike with some of his habits- then the birdie and the sentiment, used my Copics to colour. It looked a bit bare so I added the stencilled leaves and a doodled border.

Head on over to the challenge blog where you will find plenty of fabulous inspiration from the rest of the DT, hope you can find the time to join in this month- as always there's a lovely prize on offer for the lucky winners.

Our prizes this month are from Craft Stash, first a collection of Santoto Gorjuss girls stamps/die/stickers and second a Woodware floral stamp. Craft Stash is the fasted growing online craft store specialising in papercraft for card making, journaling, mixed media and much more.

I'm in the mooood...

Good morning,  this is the first of two posts today so I'll keep it short.

A new challenge starts today at Sweet Stampin' with a fun theme of 'Inspired by a book/film /song' - I couldn't resist playing along with Team Wendy as I recently purchased these quirky stamps, (Paper Artsy). Even the sentiment fits the theme  :) In case anyone hasn't guessed , the song is 'I'm in the mood for Dancing' -the Nolan Sisters. It's stuck in my head now....

Don't forget to check out the challenge blog for loads of fab inspiration from my lovely teamies.

Hot colours at Crafty Catz

Good morning, today sees the start of a new challenge at Crafty Catz, the last one before our summer break. There is no sponsor this week-it's a just for fun challenge but we will be choosing a top 3 as usual.

Janet is hosting this challenge, the optional twist is HOT COLOURS for anyone wishing to use it, but as always, anything goes at Crafty Catz.

I needed a quick birthday card so I made this- The background is DP, I think it looks like it's handmade with blended ink so I really like it! I stamped the grungey floral stamp (Polkadoodles)-it's just one stamp that fits a DL size card perfectly, then used watercolours to colour some of the flowers and leaves, added some  highlights with a white gel pen , a few sequins and the fussy cut, stamped banner which I left white to make it stand out.

Head on over to Crafty Catz and check out the fabulous creations from my teamies, then I hope you'll take the chance to join in before we close down for the summer.

Thanks for visiting

It is summer...

Good morning, I've been spending more time in the craft room than I usually do in the summer months, probably because it's not much fun sitting in the garden- my book would get soggy! I'm not complaining, the cool temperatures suit me much better than 40+ degrees would and it hasn't been nearly as wet here as it has in other parts of the UK- we've had rain but not torrential rain for days on end for which I'm very grateful!
I told myself it would be a good opportunity to crack on with Christmas cards, but unfortunately I didn't listen... I've been enjoying some colouring time though, I spent some time trawling through my files of digis and printed up some old favourites to colour. This little sweetie is  from A Day For Daisies, Flowers in my Garden, I've used Copic Markers and Polychromos to colour.  Paper from stash (very old!) a die cut frame and stamped sentiment.

Thanks for visiting, have a good day.

Fun in the sun

Good morning, today sees the start of a new challenge over at Fab'n' Funky Challenges, it's our last one before we break for the summer so be sure to check it out.

I'm hosting this time,  the theme is Summer Fun.

This little guy is really happy and chilled out- he's on holiday and enjoying a day on the beach- it's not raining,  the wind has dropped to a pleasant breeze, the sky is cloudless blue and the sun is shining- not too hot though, he doesn't like 40+ degrees, not at all pleasant with a fur coat. I don't like it either- even without the fur coat! I would rather have the cool temperatures, rain and wind that we have now than feel like I'm being boiled alive! He's sitting back, relaxing with a cold drink, admiring the magnificent sandcastle he's just built.

The bear stamp is from QKR Stampede, one I've had for years, coloured with markers, as is the sandcastle (magazine freebie) and the background. Striped paper is Polkadoodles and the sun die is an unnamed one I bought from ebay.

There's more inspiration from my lovely teamies over at Fab'n' Funky so come on over and join the fun.

Thanks for visiting

Christmas in July at Sweet Stampin'

Good morning, today sees the start of a new challenge at Sweet Stampin'
This fortnight our theme is the ever popular CHRISTMAS IN JULY.
I have to admit to struggling a bit with Christmas cards so far this year- most of what I've made/started has ended up in the bin as I haven't liked it at all.
I like this one though...so I made 2 :)

The card base is a Tuxedo fold, much easier than I thought it would be, it stands up beautifully and folds flat to post. The cute stamp is from Woodware, it's a tall stamp that fits a DL card perfectly so I chopped it up a bit to fit where I wanted it.

Why not join in with our challenge this time? We're all going to need some Christmas cards and it will creep up faster than you think, now is a good time to get started. If you're stuck for inspiration there are plenty of fabulous cards  from my teamies over at Sweet Stampin'.
Please remember to include some stamping!
Thanks for visiting.
Have a great weekend- hope the weather is kind to you!

It's July.... so Merry Christmas!

'Morning all, it's time for a new challenge at Crafty Catz, this week it's Ginny's turn to host- her choice of theme is Christmas, as always it is optional, you don't have to follow the theme to play along.

Our sponsor for this challenge is

PRIZE.....$6 DOLLAR VOUCHER
http://www.disdigistamps.com/

To make my card I used Gnoming Home For Christmas, such a cute little guy, all coloured up with my Copic markers. It's a simple matted design, the white layer is embossed with a holly EF, can't remember the brand, and the sentiment is embossed with white EP (which isn't as bright white as the paper!:(

Now hop on over to Crafty Catz to see what my teamies have created to inspire you- then please do join in as we'd love to see what you are making too.

Mid month reminder for Stamping Sensations

Good morning, a quick post from me with a reminder that you still have time to join in with this month's challenge at Stamping Sensations, the optional theme this month is Summer Flowers but anything is acceptable as long as the focal element is stamped. There is a lovely prize on offer from Crafty Individuals, please check out the main challenge blog for details.

This is very similar to my first inspiration card for this challenge, using different stamps and techniques. I die cut a square of DP to fit my stamp, stamped the bloom with black Versafine Clair ink, then heat embossed it using several layers of  clear UTEE. After it cooled down I bent it around a bit (very technical term here!) to make it crack, then sponged rust coloured DI into the cracks, it shows more IRL but this was the best photo I could get!. I matted onto a larger square of the DP , stamped the sentiment and added the die cut frame.

Thanks for visiting, don't forget to check out Stamping Sensations  for some lovely inspiration from the team - hope you'll be inspired to join in.

Do what you love

Hello, it's Friday, time for a new challenge at Crafty Catz.
This week our challenge is just for fun, no sponsor and no prizes, but you still have the chance for your creation to be chosen as one of our Top 3 and earn a fabulous badge for your blog!
Our lovely host this time is Christine, who has chosen the optional twist
Make it Sparkle or Shine.
I coloured up one Ching-Chou Kuik's pretty images (Lil Bookworm Fairy) in sepia shades using my markers, and matted the die cut panel onto rose gold glitter card. I found a piece of DP that matched my colours- it also has a a lovely shine to it, the sentiments are stamped and embossed. I've added some glittery, die cut corner swirls and a few tiny gems.

As always, there's plenty more inspiration over at Crafty Catz, so hop over to see what the ladies have created this week.
Remember, our theme is always optional, you can join in with any creation you would like to share.
Thanks for visiting and have a wonderful weekend.

Monochrome + a pop!

Good morning, hope your week is going well and the weather is being kind to you. I've had a lovely week so far- yesterday I took my eldest granddaughter to lunch, she's finished school for this year, having just sat her GCSEs and enjoying some well-deserved time to relax. She's a good girl, has always worked really hard at school and is expected to get good grades, she's been offered places at 3 different Grammar schools so is just waiting for her results before making a decision. it was so lovely to spend some quality time with her, between her studies and social life I haven't seen as much of her as I used to!

Getting back to the reason for this post, my card today is for our new challenge at Fab'n' Funky. Buffy is hosting this fortnight and she wants to see

'Monochrome with a single pop of colour.'

To make my CAS card I've used a gorgeous stamp from Pink Ink, I just love his little face! It was quick and easy to make as the stamp is quite large and so detailed. I stamped it onto a square of mixed media card, and added a little shading with  grey coloured pencils. Stamped the sentiment and the tiny paw print and it was done.

There's some great inspiration from my fabulous team over at the Challenge Blog, so do take a look! Hope you can find the time to play along

Thanks for visiting, enjoy the rest of the week.
