Favourite Colours

Good morning,  it's Wednesday already and time for a new challenge at Fab'n'Funky... I almost missed doing this post, I was sure that it was only a week ago that the last challenge started...

The theme for this fortnight is 'Favourite Colours' chosen by our lovely N-Eva. I went for my favourite colour combo, blue and brown. The image is from Mo Manning, I think it's a patreon one. I printed it onto white cardstock and hand cut it into a long tag shape. Coloured using my markers, lightly sponged and stencilled the background., added an eyelet and a ribbon.  Layered it up on DP in the colours I liked, finished it with a couple of  (ancient) brads and a die cut sentiment.

We would love to have you join in with our challenge - it's such an easy theme this time! If you're looking for inspiration just check out the Challenge blog, there's plenty of lovely ideas from the rest of the design team.

Thanks for stopping by, have a good day.

Chris

For Rudolph Days

Good afternoon, it's been so long since I posted a card that wasn't a DT make...so here's a set!
I wanted to join in with the Rudolph Days Challenge, again something I haven't done for a while, so I made a set of cards featuring a lovely Santa stamp, Whipper-Snapper Designs. The stamped Santa images were very kindly sent to me by Bunny - all the way from Florida.  I coloured them with my markers (he's quick and easy to colour) then used bits and pieces of left over DP to make up the five cards.

I have now more than doubled my Christmas card stash- so win win!

Thanks for visiting

How Old???

Good morning, my card today is for this fortnight's challenge at Crafty Catz, It's my turn to host and pick the  twist for the DT to use
which is 'more than one fold' - as always the twist is optional.
Our lovely sponsor for this challenge is

BECCYS PLACE

Visit My Online Store

I have to say I do enjoy using her lovely digital stamps, thank you Beccy.
I chose this fun dog image, Scamander from the Ruff Day set, and coloured him up with my markers to look like Marvin, my Red Fox Labrador. I matted the image onto a top folded panel of brown cardstock which lifts up to reveal my son's age on his next birthday- the big Four-O! He adores Marvin so I think he'll be pleased with the card (even if not happy about being such an advanced age!)
I used stencils and blue and brown  distress inks to make my background papers. The card base is a simple Z fold.

There's loads more inspiration from the rest of the DT, so please do hop over to the challenge blog to check them out, then why not join in the fun with a fabulous creation of your own.
Thank you for visiting my blog today,
I hope you have a lovely weekend

...the mice will play...

It's time for a mid month reminder for our February Challenge at Stamping Sensations, the optional theme is Animals, Birds and Creatures.
I used some of my Lavinia stamps to create a little scene with some cheeky mice getting up to mischief. The background was created on the gelli plate using distress inks and brushos and I used watercolours to add some colours to the books.

Please pop over to Stamping Sensations for details of how to play along and the lovely prize on offer,  you will also find plenty of inspiration from the rest of the team.
Thanks for stopping by today

Always look on the bright side...

 Good morning and happy weekend.
The theme for this fortnight's challenge at Sweet Stampin' is
ALWAYS LOOK ON THE BRIGHT SIDE
which immediately made me think of my middle  sister.
She is amazing and really truly does always look on the bright side despite always being in constant pain from her RA.  She is totally bonkers, always cheerful and lights up the room when she enters it.
I made this card for her birthday next week, yes two sisters and two birthdays on consecutive days!
There are 3 years between us so we grew up together, this cute Mo Manning image made me think of us- many many years ago (on a good day when we weren't squabbling as sisters do!!!)
I printed the image and coloured it with my markers, then decided to use the swirly stencil to colour the background. With some trepidation I masked the image with Frisk Artists' Blue Mask, a new acquisition. I've not had a lot of luck with removing masking fluids in the past and I'd already coloured the image.
I sponged the yellow DI onto card panel then applied the bright pink through the stencil, then held my breath and removed the masking fluid- so happy when it all came off easily!
I wanted the diamond shape frame around the image- so I used two frame dies to cut a square then tilted it on end- a bit of fiddly cutting with a craft knife to insert  frame behind their feet. With hindsight it would have been easier to draw the frame and colour it black but I didn't think of that! I stamped the sentiments before adding the frame, slightly misjudging the space I had! I added another black frame, some narrow black ribbon and a couple of little gems before matting onto black card and the card base.

I used this sketch from Sweet Sketch Wednesday

Thanks for visiting today, if you want some inspiration to brighten up your day please head over to the challenge blog to see what my lovely teamies have created.
Have a good weekend

Fabulous sister

Good morning, it's time for a new challenge at Fab'n' Funky, the theme for this fortnight is

PAPER PIECING

chosen by our lovely Pat who is hosting this time.

February is the month of sister's birthdays for me...both my sisters have their birthdays in February- on consecutive days too! My baby sister will be 50...not that anyone would believe it- she looks about 30!

I made this card for her using a lovely Mo Manning image, Eliza, chosen because she resembles my sister. I've used Copic Markers to colour and paper- pieced her dress. The background is lightly sponged with Distress Ink and I've added a little stencilling.

The inside panel is coloured using the same ink and stencils, I stamped and embossed the large 'Fabulous' and added the die cut '50'.

Please check out the Challenge Blog, you'll find some great inspiration from my talented teamies and we'd love to have you join in this fortnight.

Thanks for stopping by

All you need is...

Good morning...I 've got that Beatles song running round and round in my head now...so sorry if it does the same to you...😀
This is my DT make for this fortnight's challenge at Crafty Catz, sponsored by the fabulous

The theme is, as always, Anything Goes.
The added twist, chosen by our lovely Bridget, is
Valentines/ show some love.

Now, I have to confess I'm not a fan of Valentines, too commercialised and too far from the original concept of sending an anonymous card to someone you fancy... but I did enjoy colouring this beautiful image, aptly named Valentine. I used my markers to colour the couple and balloons then created a sunset sky with Distress Inks. It brings back a lovely memory of watching the sunset from a country pub garden, hot air balloons were drifting up from Leeds Castle in the background, a truly magical sight which I'll never forget.
There are some fabulous creations over on the challenge blog so do hop over and check them out.

Let's Go!

Good morning, I'm here today with my DT card for this month's challenge at Stamping Sensations.

The optional theme for February is Animals/birds/creatures or of course you can enter with the Anything Goes option as long as there is some stamping on the front of your card/project.

There are 2 fabulous prizes to be won.

My card was inspired by my dog, his walks are the high spot of his day, he's always ready for more and anxious to go! He's happy with his everyday walks in familiar territory but so excited if we go somewhere different for him to explore- new territory and an adventure- anywhere with water, be it the sea, a river or lake or even a muddy ditch is Marvin heaven! The beautiful stamp is one from an Aall & Create set I was lucky enough to win a while ago from We Love Stamping Challenges- an amazing prize!
The background is DIs stencils and stamps from various brands with some doodling in the top right corner. The 'Let's Go ' is die cut using a very old  TH alphabet die.

For. more inspiration head on over to Stamping Sensations to see what the rest of the team have created this month.
Thanks for stopping by today, enjoy the rest of the weekend.

Add a heart at Crafty Calendar

Good morning, the weekend has arrived and with it a new Challenge at Crafty Calendar.
This month we're lucky to be sponsored by the fabulous

The theme for this month is
 ADD A HEART.

I was given this lovely digi, Stepping Out , to use. Thank you Andrea.

I've cropped it a bit to fit my design and use Copic markers to colour.
The rainy background is a mixture of DIs and pastels with 'raindrops' made with glossy accents.
Originally I was going to add a rainbow across the top but couldn't decide how to add a heart so I changed my mind and stencilled a heart in rainbow colours lower down the card. The sentiment is a stamp.

There's mor inspiration to be enjoyed over at the challenge blog, hope you can find some time to join us this month.

Thanks for visiting,
have a great weekend.
