A card and a hare...

Well. where did that week go! This summer is rushing by so fast, I'm glad I've been making the most of the lovely weather we've had. I hope the warm spell lasts a few more weeks as we're off on holiday in September - Devon is a lovely place to be, especially when the weather is good, so fingers crossed.

I used my Copics to colour up this cute Mo Manning image and made this quick card using old papers from my stash, it looked a bit plain so I added some stamping to the edges of the image panel and the grey background panel using Uniko border stamps, the  digital sentiment stamp is from Polkadoodles.

I've also been having a go at needle felting, inspired by Pinky's amazing projects. I discovered that my cousin knew how to felt and spent a lovely afternoon with her, my sister and a friend being shown how to wet felt and needlefelt. Since then I've bought some basics and tried the needle felting at home. My first attempt was a sheep. It looked a bit like an emaciated dachshund with mange and dodgy legs and went in the bin. My sister and my daughter are still laughing about it- rude!! Next I made a bear- well a head of a bear- it was far to big and I ran out of the yarn I was using...another resident for the bin. Yesterday I sat in the garden and made a hare...

Ok- his eyes are wonky and one ear is bigger than the other but I'm quite proud of him- he's a lot better than the sheep!

Enjoy the weekend

Butterflies

Good morning, hope you are enjoying a lovely weekend, it's been pretty quiet here but today we're joining my sisters, brother and brother-in-law for lunch, so looking forward to that- no cooking is always a  winner in my book!

Today sees the start of our August Challenge at Stamping Sensations, the theme is Bees, Birds and Butterflies chosen by Carol, of course you can choose to use the Anything Goes option as long as there is visible stamping on your entry.

There are 2 prizes of beautiful Lavinia Stamps to be won.

I used an Aall & Create stamp to make my card, together with a script stamp and sentiment from other brands. I stamped onto white cardstock and added some subtle colour to the background using inks and a mesh stencil, stamped the butterfly twice more, coloured with watercolours and covered with Wink of Stella for a bit of sparkle. Fussy cut and added one over the top of the original stamped image and the other over the script. I added a few tiny gems to finish.

As always there is plenty to inspire you over at the Challenge blog where you will find full details of  how to join in and the lovely prizes to be won.

Thanks for visiting

Number 7

Good morning, so far this year I have managed to make the grand total of 7 Christmas cards... this is number 7.  A winter scene using Card-io and Inkylicious stamps and Distress Inks, quick and simple which I what I need.
A quiet day in store for me today, Hubby has gone to a Classic car show with his partner in crime, so just me and Marvin, a walk in the woods, a quiche to make for later, then the rest of the day is mine...reading or crafting?? decisions, decisions!
Have a lovely day, whatever you are doing.

Super Duper Birthday

Hello- what's happened to the sunshine today? It's a bit disappointing after the lovely weather we had yesterday but a lot more typical of our British summers. My son and his family are camping this weekend so I hope it perks up a bit for them, not a lot of fun if everything gets soaking wet, not that it will bother the girls, they love sleeping in a tent and have been known to sleep through high winds and thunder storms!

I made this card just because. The image is one of Mo Manning' s older ones and always makes me smile, reminding me of Ruby when she was small- wild hair, a big smile and oh how she loved to dress up! Coloured with Copics, I kept the design very simple because of the big die cut, it would have looked better if I'd stuck the 'birthday' on straight, by the time I noticed it was stuck too firmly to do anything about it :(

Ruby, aged 3 " Nanny, of course fairies wear wellies when it rains"

This chubby-cheeked little poppet is now almost 16- where did those years go! She still gives me the best hugs , even though she does have to bend down to do it these days!

Just tagging along

Yesterday I made a tag to join in with this month's Tag Along and ATC Challenge, a fun way to spend a wet afternoon! The tag base is an A&C die, cut from white cardstock inked an stencilled in shades of green, I used 2 Lavinia stencils for this. I cut an arched aperture from the centre and stamped and embossed the garden sentiment on the black base tag.  The silhouette stamps were a magazine 'freebie' many moons ago, I added a die cut leafy sprig and another embossed sentiment.
The insert is ATC size, not sure if counts as an ATC because I added the little tab to the side. I stencilled the clouds, stamped the birds and sentiment and added another die cut sprig and a doodled border.

Have had a lovely day today, celebrating my youngest granddaughter's 6th birthday. It seems like yesterday she was a tiny baby, they do grow up too fast!

Thanks for stopping by

Did someone say cake?

Good morning, is it just me or is this summer just flying by! Late July already and the children breaking up for the summer, I do hope we have some good weather over the next month or so, it must have been horrible for them to be shut inside a hot classroom - or exam room- when the sun is shining outside. I think it's much easier for parents to keep them entertained when the weather is good too- and a lot less expensive to be able to go the park or beach for picnic than it is to try to keep them occupied when it's raining all the time.
Ok, enough waffling and on to the card- my DT make for this fortnight's challenge at
the theme is Anything but a square.
I think this fold is called a bandstand?, quite simple to do and it folds nice and flat to post. The cute image is from Beccy's Place and I've coloured using my markers. Papers are from Polkadoodles. I've stamped and white embossed the Happy Birthday sentiment.
