Spots before your eyes!

Hi, I'm a bit late with my post today, just got back from my Son's house where I have been looking after my 4 year old granddaughter.... I lived to tell the tale! Actually she was very good and we enjoyed our couple of days together ,won't mention the hairwashing (or...not hairwashing) or the 6.30 am start this morning !!
My card is my DT make for this week's challenge at Sweet Stampin'. The theme is simply 'spots' , so lovely and easy this week!
I used a Karen Burniston pop up die set  for the first time, I was very impressed with the set...much easier to use than i expected! The flowers are all stamped, paper pieced and fussy cut, the sentiment and swirl stamp are stamped and heat embossed.

There are more spotty creations to be seen by clicking here...hope to have you join us this week.

Thanks for stopping by, enjoy your weekend

Dancing Penguin

Good morning, here's my GDT card for this week's challenge at Colour Crazy Challenges. This week  the fabulous sponsor is Fred She Said

I chose to use the cute Dancing Penguin image and created a simple fold back card, covering the card base with a snowflake patterned DP and embossed white card for the snow.  I added a die cut tree border, with white gel pen ‘snow’, and a stamped & embossed  sentiment banner. I adhered the cute penguin which was  coloured with copics and fussy cut over the edge of the fold.  A touch of stickles glitter to his hat and on the snowflakes to finish.
Please hop over to Colour Crazy Challenges to see what the DT ladies have been up to this week, then it's time to grab those markers, pencils or paint and get colouring!

Have fun, chill out and relax

Oldies But Goodies!

Good morning, here's my inspiration card for Oldie But Goodie Thursday at Catch the Bug.

I made a step card featuring  Stella and Gus socks and sandals, love this image! I used my copics to colour. The main sentiment comes with the image...it made me laugh...poor old Gus!
This card was made for a good friend's birthday...it's all ok ...he's still speaking to me!
This post is scheduled as I'll be at my son's for a few days, looking after my youngest granddaughter, whilst Mummy & Daddy enjoy a short break.
Emily is delighted at the prospect...she has plans...wish me luck!
I'm sure we'll have fun together...not so sure about the chilling out and relaxing!
Thanks for visiting,
Chris

All creatures great and small

This week's challenge at Fab 'n ' Funky has the  theme of  'all creatures great and small' chosen by Judith, our lovely leader to mark the birth date of St Francis of Assisi , patron Saint of Animals. She would like to see anything from the animal kingdom (animals, insects, fish, birds)- real not mythical please!
I made a quick and easy card featuring Fuzzy Bunnies, a sweet digital image from A Day For Daisies. I  could be wrong but I think it was a freebie. I printed the image directly onto a piece of DP (Twilight Kingdom, Hunkydory 6x6 pad), then printed it again onto white cardstock. I used copics to colour the image, then very carefully fussy cut, leaving no white edges. I adhered the coloured image directly over the one stamped onto the DP - this way you get to keep the whiskers :) I stamped some grasses and ferns along the lower edge to finish. I haven't added a sentiment as I think this card could be used for a variety of occasions.
Thank you so much for stopping by today. There is plenty to see over at The Challenge Blog, my fabulous teamies have been busy again! We'd love to see your creations too, so why not hop (hop, bunnies...get it?:) over and join us!

Gift box- anything but a card at Catch the Bug

Good morning, hope everyone is feeling rested and renewed after the weekend and ready to enjoy the week ahead. Today I'm sharing a simple gift box I made featuring a fabulous set of digi stamps from Bugaboo.  I love these block images, so versatile as you can use them individually too, this one is called Giraffe blocks.

I constructed the box from cardstock (loads of tutorials available online, just not sure what we're allowed to link back to any more :( the box is great size for tealights or individually wrapped chocolates. Definitely going to make more of these as ideal for small gifts!
There's more inspiration to be seen at Catch the Bug .

Have a great week.

Up, up and away

Hi,
I'm fresh back from a lovely holiday in the Wye Valley/ Forest of Dean area , such a beautiful part of our country...never been there before, but will definitely go again ! We enjoyed lovely weather, wonderful scenery and long walks with Mathilda, our Great Dane, she loved it too but I think she's glad to be home for a rest!
This week's challenge at Sweet Stampin' has the theme of 'balloons or bunting' , if you look closely you can see that my card has both! I used a sweet Tiny Townie stamp from Stamping Bella, coloured with copics and fussy cut, the popped her up on foam pads on top of the DP. I added a stamped sentiment and two little hearts.
Thanks for visiting, hope you choose to play along with this fun challenge.
Enjoy the weekend

September Challenge at Christmas at Sweet Stampin'

Well,  here we are... the September Challenge at Christmas at Sweet Stampin' begins today....the big day will be upon us all too quickly!
For this challenge I made a shaker card...not something I do very often, quite pleased as the sequins actually move when the card is shaken...and they don't fall out (won't mention the glitter...)
The scene inside the shaker was created with distress inks and some gorgeous fairy pine tree stamps from Lavinia. I piled some sequins and glitter on top and covered it with snow patterned acetate. The die cut sleigh and reindeer is adhered on top. I took the photo in bright sunshine which shows the lovely sparkle but the colours are a bit washed out,  much more 'twilight-y' IRL...still you can't have it all!
Thanks for visiting today...if you''re starting to panic about getting your Christmas cards made on time and are stuck for ideas...head on over to  Christmas at Sweet Stampin' for some wonderful inspiration from my teamies.
Have a great day
Chris

Colour Crazy - Week 36

Good morning, there's a new challenge starting today over at Colour Crazy Challenges and I'm having a great time as a Guest Designer, they have some fabulous sponsors and I've been given some gorgeous images to colour. This week the sponsor is Knitty Kitty, such cute and  quirky digis!

I used  the Florentina  image from the Build a Snow Scene set ... x 4, merged.  My thoughts were  ‘forget Swan Lake…this is Flamingo Pond.. on Ice!’ Coloured  with copics… a fun wintery birthday card. There are 4 more fun flamingo images in this set...amazing value!
Thanks for looking!

Pushing my luck...

Hi, a quick card from me today, featuring an older image from BugabooStella Tidbits- push my luck.  Stella really is a girl after my own heart (not being a big fan of exercise...  apart from a lovely walk!).
The image was quick and easy to colour with my copics, die cut using a stitched rectangle die and layered onto my base card and DP. I added a bit of doodled stitching around the edges. The sentiment comes with the image, I die cut it with a stitched circle die and made it into a little tag.
Please hop over to Catch the Bug to enjoy some fabulous creations featuring some of Bugaboo's 'oldies but goodies'!
Thanks for stopping by, have a lovely day
Chris

a moment in time

Hi, I've created a card inspired by the sketch at this month's challenge at Aurora Wings
At the moment  time passing is very much on my mind with my beautiful granddaughters growing up so fast. It seems like yesterday they were babies and this week the eldest started at Grammar school whilst the youngest had her first day at school.., a whole new chapter in both of their young lives. Hence the steampunk style card, to me it symbolises  time and the passing of time.
The image is of course from Aurora Wings, it's called Unless, and is one of my favourites. I cropped the image (don't you just love digis?!!) to fit with the sketch.
I coloured the cropped image with my copics and fussy cut. She's placed inside the clock (Tim Holtz) die cut and embellished with die cut cogs. The background was created using my gel plate and distress inks, a bit of stencilling and embossed stamping.
Thanks for taking the time to visit and for any comments you might leave, always very much appreciated!

Bingo board at Fab 'n' Funky

Good morning, there's a great new challenge starting today over at Fab 'n' Funky, our clever Buffy has created a fabulous Bingo board for us all to play with.

                                     Gems   Yellow    Die Cuts
                                     Blue     Flowers  Ribbons
                                     Lace     Circular  Red

Here's my card using the top line across. I had a play with my new favourite toy.. a Gel plate... and some Distress Oxide inks ( wonderful messy fun) and created the yellow background. I stamped and embossed the butterfly stamp and cut around the edge. I used a stitched edge square to die cut the yellow card to size and then used the fancy corner die. I adhered this to my black card blank then cut again around the edge of the butterfly stamp leaving a narrow black border The sentiment is also a die cut with a black gem replacing the dot. I added 3 tiny yellow gems to finish. This was actually quite quick to make (apart from washing all the inky stuff...especially from my fingers!!).
Hope you choose to play along with this fun challenge...just hop over here to see my teamies' fabulous makes!

Keep it neutral at Sweet Stampin'

Hi, back with my second card today (one more to go!). This is for this week's challenge at Sweet Stampin', the theme is 'keep it neutral'.
I decided to make a Christmas card for this (can't believe how horribly fast this year is flying past and don't want a last minute panic...it'll make a pleasant change:). I used a beautiful Mo manning image and my copics to colour. I fussy cut the little angel and placed her on top of my layered dp and die cuts. The sentiment is stamped and embossed with dull silver ep. The twine is recycled from some packaging and I added a little snowflake charm.
Don't forget to hop over to Sweet Stampin' Challenges to see what my teamies have been up to, then it's up to you to get stamping and join in!

Unusual folds at Crafty Calendar

September has arrived...how on earth can that be possible already! I'm hoping for an Indian Summer as I'm definitely not ready for it to be over yet, still at least we did have summer this year!
As it's the first Saturday of the month, our new challenge at Crafty Calendar is up and running! This month the theme is 'unusual folds' and we are so lucky to be sponsored by LOTV
with a fabulous prize of 3 digi stamps for our lucky winner!
I made an easel card with some diagonal folding ( saw something a bit like it on Pinterest, couldn't find instructions so made it up as I went along).
The sweet image is of course from LOTV,  aptly named Lovely- it's available here. I cloured it with copics and framed her with a die cut archway. The trees in the background are also die cut ...I've a horrible feeling I may have stuck them on upside down but hopefully it doesn't show...
To see more creations featuring unusual folds please hop over to Crafty Calendar to see what my lovely teamies have made to inspire you...then it's your turn to amaze us with your fantastic folding!
Thanks for looking...will be back in a short while with more DT makes.
