Deco Birthday

Good morning, this is a scheduled post, a reminder for our May Challenge at
The optional theme for this month is FEMININE, but as always Anything Goes as long as there is visible stamping.

I used a stamp that I've had for years and remains a firm favourite, it's an unmounted rubber stamp, part of a set I think- but its packaging has disappeared and I cannot remember the brand. The image is coloured with Copic markers and various glitter/sparkle pens of different brands.( Never seem to have a lot of luck with these. I've tried so many different brands, I'm careful to replace the lids but lots of them seem to dry up/block up very quickly- with no rhyme or reason! Some of the pens in the sets are brilliant and go on for ages while others just give in and turn up their toes in no time at all. I've tried looking at UTube for solutions to the problem but no luck there either!  So if anyone can recommend glitter pens that don't dry/block up I'd be grateful!)

Anyway, back to the card, image was placed in a die cut frame- cut from glitter card. The background design is built up from strips of card which have been dry embossed. I inked the embossing folder first with Bermuda Elements ink (love that colour!) I matted the strips onto silver glitter card to match the frame, then matted onto the black card, then silver again. I added some very narrow strips of the glitter card with tiny square gems to finish my layout, stamped and heat embossed the sentiment onto black card.

Please head on over to Stamping Sensations Blog for lots of inspiration, full details of how to enter, and the lovely prize on offer.

Thanks for visiting

Chris

Beautiful, elegant card, that image is so gorgeous Chris. Sorry to say I can't help out with the pens, I get so annoyed, its such a waste isn't it. Hope someone has an answer. xx

Do love a bit of Art Deco and in these colours looks fabulous Chris.

As you know I'm not much of a colourist but do own a few different types, needs must sometimes. For sparkle I have Posca, not a big selection of colours but blend nicely using a clear Wink of Stella for a bit more sparkle.

I'm with Brenda - try sparkly Posca Pens out. Mine seem fine - although I've only had them a few months. Just remember to give them a shake and press the tip down a few times to activate.

Your Art Deco lady is fabulous and I love your card and all the glitz xxx

Beautiful art deco style card and fab colouring.
I love a bit of sparkle and have all sorts of sparkle pens. I like to colour with Sakura Stardust pens though I find they are best for small area as they can get a bit scratchy over larger area. I too use Posca sparkle pens, I tend to blob the colour onto an acrylic block, water it down and paint with it. I also top non sparkly colouring with either Wink of Stella or Spectrum Noir clear sparkle pen. The former one has a slightly more warm gold tinge to the sparkle, whereas the Spectrum Noir has a cooler frosty look. I find the Wink of Stella dries up quite quickly and needs replacing quite often, but the Spectrum Noir is very free flowing. I have also recently bought a couple of coloured Wink of Stella pens which provide colour and sparkle in one. They are very vibrant colours and working well so far! xx

Gorgeous image and colouring Chris and I love your card design with the layers and frames, beautiful, as for pens, I give up. and don't get me started on white gel pens, I've spent a fortune and never found one that goes like you see on you tube, even giving it a use everyday on scratch paper to keep the ball moving....nup..

Fabulous card Chris, love the glamorous image and colouring. Love your detail in the framing. As far as the sparkly/ glitter pens I'm not much help as I have the same problems, so frustrating. Avril xx

I thought this was a printed image at first! The colouring is amazing and of course I love art deco. My best glitter pens are some cheap ones from B&M if you have one near you.
