Southern Girls go girly!

Good morning! There's a new challenge starting at Southern Girls , this fortnight we want to see those girly creations! For me it was a great opportunity to ink up a cute and girly stamp I was lucky enough to win a few weeks ago, CC Designs May Day Birgitta. I stamped this little sweetie 3 times so that I could layer the flowers. She's coloured with copics, cut out and layered onto a die cut and embossed tag. The papers are LOTV, flowers are punched. I doodled stitches around the edges of the layers and flowers.
Our sponsor this fortnight is Random Kits and Pieces who are offering a lovely prize for the lucky winner, so why not play along with the Southern Girls this challenge?
Thanks for visiting,
have a lovely day!

Hat trick

Hi! Hope everyone's enjoying a lovely relaxing Sunday! Just a quick post from me to share the card I made for my baby sister's birthday! This fabulous East Wind image reminds me of Claire, it's gorgeous, just like she is! I coloured her with copics (the image, not Claire!), fussy cut her and sat her in the hat, which is hand drawn. The whole image is mounted onto a die cut and embossed circle, the hat is shaped to add dimension. I think she'll be pleased with it.
Thanks for visiting.

...thinking of spring...

Another week over....only one week left of February...then we can really start thinking of spring! I'm sooo looking forward to better weather and more daylight and sunshine and flowers and getting out in the garden! There are signs already, lots of buds on the trees and shrubs, crocuses snowdrops and daffs starting to sprout! Our challenge theme at Sweet Stampin' this week is a very apt one - Spring Flowers - my favourites! I absolutely love their bright bold colours as they bravely bloom, sometimes in the freezing cold, banishing the dull miserable end-of-winter days!
For my card I  die cut a card blank using a large tag die, then covered it with dp. I coloured a gorgeous Mo Manning image, a lovely little girl selling her gorgeous tulips with copics, then die cut using a stitched circle die, which I layered over another die cut tag. I added the three die cut tulips, which I shaded slightly to add dimension. A tiny tag stamped and doodled around the edges was tucked behind the image. I added a ribbon and lace border and a ribbon and twine bow to finish.
The lovely ladies at Sweet Stampin' would love to see lots and lots of spring flowers this week, so hop on over here to join us! There's a fabulous prize from Petal Lu for this week's lucky winner!

Have a lovely weekend

Ribbon and Lace

Hello! I'm back again already with my card for this week's challenge at Fab 'n' Funky which is 'Ribbon and Lace' hosted by none other than the lovely and so-talented Wends aka Crafty Kiwi Mama. The theme Wends has chosen is 'Ribbon and Lace', it would be great to see both on your projects, but being a kind and generous soul Wends will accept ribbon or lace as well! So easy peasy then!
Our fabulous sponsors for this challenge, Sassy Studios gave us some beautiful images to play with, I used Rapunzel Sassy, isn't she a beauty! She's coloured with copics, die cut and distressed around the edges. I added a die cut border and tag ribbons, lace, flowers a smattering of frantage and a few pearls.
Why not pop over to Fab 'n' Funky now... there are loads of beautiful beribboned and lacy creations from the DT and we'd love to see what you can create for this challenge too!
Have a lovely day!

Purr-fect together!

Good morning! Wednesday again- middle of the week already- and time for a fun new challenge at Creative Moments. This fortnight the theme is paper piecing, and we're sponsored by the fabulous All Dressed Up stamps, who very generously gave us some gorgeous images to use, this adorable stamp is called Purrrfect Together and is available here . There are actually 3 images, cat with bow, cat without bow and the sentiment so a real bargain at £1.50! To make my card I printed the cat-without-a bow twice, once onto the 'fence' dp and then on to blue spotted paper. The spotted cat is fussy cut and pieced over the image on the fence. The cat-with-bow, I printed onto white spotted paper, fussy cut and placed slightly overlapping the first cat. I then printed part of both images onto relevant scraps of paper so I could piece the ears and bow. printed the sentiment and die cut it with a tag die and added it to my card with a die cut bow and a little brad. No colouring so this was a quick and easy card to make!
We'd love to have you join us this fortnight, paper piecing is a fun and easy technique so why not give it a go? Of course you can always enter an 'anything goes' project if you don't fancy the paper piecing! Please take the time to visit the challenge blog at Creative Moments ,there's some beautiful examples of the paper piecing technique for you to enjoy created by my talented teamies!

...love ya...

Good evening! Hope you've had an enjoyable weekend, it's eerily quiet in my house at the moment, the granddaughters have gone home! It's funny how two such small people can fill a house ...with laughter, giggles, fun.... toys, crisp crumbs, cut up paper, discarded clothing (don't ask!) cake mix (yuck). We did have a fun weekend though, went to see the Paddington movie yesterday, followed by a trip to the shops (expensive) a visit to the library (a small oasis of peace after this as they both had their noses buried in the books they'd chosen), out to dinner, back home for bathtime! I let them sit up to watch a kids movie (v. boring) on tv. Thought they might nod off...they didn't...I did....bedtime stories, goodnight hugs! They were up bright and early this morning. Lovely. Just how I like to start Sunday. Not. We made pancakes for breakfast. They got out every toy in the house. We made cupcakes. Lots of them. They drew, coloured and cut out (again) Olivia made a notebook, Ruby cut up a zillion bits of paper.....lunch, then Mummy and Daddy arrived to collect them. I had a lie down in a darkened room.... not really shovelled up the mess, then made  this quick card! The fabulous Whipper Snapper piggy stamp is a really old one I've had for ages... it always makes me smile. The sentiment stamp is Paper Smooches and the border is hand doodled.
All of a sudden I'm inexplicably tired so think I'll go put my feet up and enjoy a nice (large) glass of wine!

I read books!

Good morning, it's time for a new challenge at Fab 'n Funky, it's not actually my turn this week as it's Team Fab's challenge but I thought I'd join in anyway! This week's theme chosen and hosted by the lovely Alison  is 'Charm us', just add a charm to your creation, and we are sponsored by Inspired by Stamping with an amazingly generous $20 voucher!
As for the title of this post...I DO read books, lots of them! I'm an ex children's librarian and I honestly think one of the greatest gifts anyone can give a child is a love of reading, it will stay with that child forever! I love to read to my granddaughters, and to listen to them read, I'm very happy to say that they absolutely love stories and reading! So this cute Saturated Canary image had immediate appeal, love the little sentiment that came with it too!
Thanks for calling by, hope you'll be charming us at Fab N Funky this week!
Off to finish my book now!

Tainted Love

'Tainted Love' is the title of the current challenge at The East Wind.  To me this was an invitation to make a 'darker' themed card! I used the gorgeous Pink rose and shimmer chiffon digital image which I was lucky enough to win in a previous challenge. I printed her twice, once on cardstock, once on vellum. I coloured the image with copics (love colouring these images!) then fussy cut around the flowers so that I could attach it over the vellum to give the effect of chiffon (hope this makes some sense!!!). I then placed the image over the skull (a fabulous Delicious Doodles image.)

The red heart is a doily which I covered with versamark and  heat embossed red.. The background paper (Delicious Doodles again) is distressed and edged with black die cut lace (Sizzix Tim Holtz die, long neglected!) then faux stitched using a white gel pen. The banner is stamped, fussy cut and handwritten. The words to the song are firmly implanted in my headwhere they are spinning round and round interminably
....and now probably in yours too!

Someday my Prince will come....

Good morning lovely bloggers! It's time for a new challenge at Creative Moments, this fortnight our theme is 'Love'. The DT were all allowed to choose an image from our generous sponsor Beansie Doodles , there are some fabulous images in her Etsy Shop( and very reasonably priced too!) and I usually find it really hard to choose (indecisive? moi?), but as soon as  saw this handsome little fella I was smitten! As everyone knows, you have to kiss a lot of frogs before you find your prince...I was lucky enough to find mine 45 years ago!
Foggy is coloured with copics, with a touch of Wink of Stella on his crown, which of course doesn't show in the photo! I kept the design simple, just added a little heart banner and a few teeny hearts to the image. The tiny tags are from LOTV (yes, spending again!) and are attached with little heart shaped brads (had these for years!).
The sentiment inside the card reads ...you'll always be my prince!
I had fun making this, I hope you like it!
Just take a moment to hop (frog...hop...get it?) over to Creative Moments to see what the rest of the DT have created to inspire you this fortnight, we'd love to see what you create too...you can follow the 'Love' theme or as always 'Anything Goes'.

It's the little things....

Good afternoon, hope you've had an enjoyable weekend. Here's a quick card from me made with this week's challenge at LIM in mind. The theme this week is 'Little ones', which can be interpreted any way you like. To make my card I embossed a piece of white vellum using an embossing folder from craft concepts called Butterfly kisses. I gently swiped some blue distress ink over the top of the embossed butterflies to make them stand out from the white. I punched 2 tiny butterflies from the vellum which I had coloured with the same blue distress ink, folded up the wings and stuck them in place over 2 of the embossed butterflies, then added a couple of tiny pearls to each. The frame is die cut from a piece of metallic cardstock in a beautiful shade of silvery blue, unfortunately the colours don't look good in the photo....roll on summer, when we can take photos in daylight!
Thanks for looking!
